I wish I could go back and rewatch the first video essay. Wish I had saved them. Well done my dude.
Now we will have to spend thousands cause part 2 is only for the PS5.
The remake will kill ff7
I have seen some youtubers complain about this game, how it deviates from the story and how it is stretched too long and doesn't feel like the original. But the fact remains that it is a remake and not a remaster. You can't expect everyone playing this game to have played a 23 year old game
Jirard i just want to thank you for being such a good dude. this made my day =) top notch content sir
was free in the ps4 shop this march. kinda sad im late to the party but also glad I wont have to wait as long for part 2 but also I am not too fond of this trend. FF7 will take 8 years to play and for me whos favorite FF title is 9. It will be mid 2030s by the time its out at this rate
with new consoles, like pc, the existence of crawling sections will cease because they are hidden load sections for areas.
This guy isn't that interesting to put a 50+ minute video...
I've always hated the argument "Your opinion is invalid because you haven't played the game" I bought it, I played half of it, and threw it away. They should have remastered the game everyone actually wanted.
FINAL FANTASY 7.77 REBUILD: You can(NOT) remake a game
complete doesn't mean complement...
I hate this remake the gameplay is boring the characters are now annoying and the game feels soooo stretched out and boring I feel I need to mention that I adore the original
Redefine? Yeah if you mean it completely shits on the original
@Dark Enkil it’s gonna have it’s own parts tho, that helped establish a stronger bond
@GENERAL YOUSIF Salt is a necessity to a dish that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Padding the prologue of a game to stretch it into a 30 hour experience for 2 or so hours of actual story doesn't make a game complete.
Lol salty?
Dude, I didn't even consider the whispers to be a meta-narative. My mind is literally blown
Click bait, title misleading
This was my 1st Final Fantasy game (besides KH which ya know) I really enjoyed it! Im totally team Aerith! Haha
Wait, so what was his completionist rating?
What’s peoples opinions on the new dlc?
I LOVE this game, I didn’t play the original but this game is an absolute masterpiece. I can’t wait to play the next game I have been so excited the past few days after completing it.
This is the first numbered Final Fantasy game where the level cap is not 99 or 100, it is 50. The reason for this is probably because the game ends early in the FF7 story and it wouldn't be correct if the players were too overpowered so early on. Voice acting debuts of Briana White and Cody Christian This is the very first 3D Final Fantasy game to be given a remake (not remastered like FF12, FFX, FF8). Final Fantasy 3 and 4 were also given remakes but they were originally 2d games. Steve Burton was originally going to reprise his role as Cloud Strife for the remake. However, due to his voice not matching a younger version of the character, he was replaced with Cody Christian. His voice over work on the game can be heard in the PSX 2015 trailer.
i dont think remake is a description of the game, i think remake is a direct reference to the newer happenings, changes and the time protector things. events are changing and being remade
I love this game but the story.. i got some bad kingdom hearts vibes about it
Nice to know u like horrible games that suck have bad story make lvl long and boring only run around 90% is running around doing nothing and going back to places u shouldnt go they could have made it to the gold sauser but no they wanna drag this game out and do dumb shit its not worth anyone time
Bro! Jerard you’re the man! I absolutely love final fantasy 7 and I fully agree with you about the game. Your videos are freaking awesome! Keep em coming bro! Big big fan!
I haven’t watched/played the original game and playing this remake was an absolute joy. Can’t get enough of it lol. I was still super confused about who Zack was until I watched a video on Clouds history (until the end of the remake)
My only major complaints is it feels very railroady, and it's immensely difficult to gring levels, materia, and weapon skills.
Finally got a chance to watch this video after playing through the game myself. Since I didn't own a PS at all before it released I had to wait for my 5 to arrive. After going through this game, having played FF7 originally long ago, I definitely feel the nostalgia and I am excited for the change ups. To me it felt like there were three people in this installment who are trying to game a NG+ In the classic game it's implied heavily that the only real winner here was the planet herself. The abandoned Midgar (and I think some interviews about it with developers) imply that humanity was basically done. Sephiroth may have lost to Cloud (and Aerith), but the latter still lost in the grand scheme of things. So Sephiroth, having been defeated a second time in AC -and more importantly Cloud finally making peace with himself is no longer an 'anchor' for Sephiroth- sends his conciousness back through the Lifestream to the past to try and influence matters into his own victory. Aerith, whom we've seen 'lived' on inside the Lifestream, does something similar by sending future knowledge back to her own past self. Which is why during the entire game she's already giving vibes of knowing more than she lets on. She knew Cloud before we even told our name. She knew to rescue Marlene before Tifa asked... So since Sephiroth is doing it, she is trying to ensure a more proper victory for Team Humanity. And finally Gaia, the planet, whose 'Will' has already gone through the outcome that is most beneficial to her: No more Sephiroth, no more Lifestream wasting humans. And Gaia sends her will out in the form of the Whispers and the Arbiter to make sure that neither Sephiroth or Aerith can do what they want to do. And in the end, Sephiroth manages to 'win' installment #1 in my belief by setting us up to do his dirty work for us. He couldn't properly move away from the established timeline as long as the Arbiter existed either. But HE was pretty much already dead and all of his clones and puppets were also already stacked against to die. All Sephiroth could do was coast along the original events, antagonizing Cloud here and there as best as he could without upsetting the Status Quo too much until the end. Where he got us to kill Fate. We're free to do what we want to now... But so is he.
Imagine how bad Ruby Weapon will be in this game if bahamut is tough
Plz make me cry a lot Ruby Weapon LoL
I have theory that actually that is final fantasy 7-2
jessie being thirsty for cloud is best change
Midgar is BORING. The overworld is where it's at.
I think this was the first (somehow) FF I played and I liked it then so I probably will too!:)
Its FFXV with a VII skin. Not even debatable
Um... tf?
I’m playing this game now as my first FF game and although some bits feel a little stretched out, I am bowled over by the whole experience! The story, characters, music and world are all amazing and I see why the original is so loved
My friend played the Remake I played the Remake Got super curious Played Crisis Core Played the original Watched Advent Children twice Proceeded to watch every gameplay out there Restarted the game That’s how I discovered FF7 and now I’m obsessed :’) Good job Square
finally watching this, been wanting to but i wanted to try completing the game myself. looked up how to get the last of the trophies and what to do and just woah. that'll take a bit XD one day maybe gosh jirard you can't say KH that doesn't make sense
I'm 30 and could never play a FF game due to the turn base combat. They really stepped the combat up, and opened the game up to a new audience. I can't wait for the adventure to continue.
Why is the automatic subtitles in Korean lol
I'm fine with a reboot. I'm even fine with Nomura being in charge of it. But I don't like the misleading marketing and whatnot. NGE didn't mislead or lie to the fans about Rebuild, so why did Square do this to FFVII fans? We've been asking for a faithful 1:1 remake with upscaled graphics and full 3D movement and we got a sequel with a messed up story twist near the end. I'm not excited about the future installments.
Just gonna say, the remake looks gorgeous. Never played it but I want to.
How did u Get the Buster Sword that's in the Background , Love that sword it's so iconic :3
You used the buster sword in your play through?
This game is really fun and midgar looks absolutely fantastic. I love the combat system and how it's a brilliant blend of classic turn based combat and the more modern frenetic combat.
Great video, incredible game. Just got the platinum now. So excited for part 2 in 10 years time!
@TheDaveStation ok . I kind of knew you were joking lol
I was joking when I said 10. It won’t be for a sweet while though
I don't think 10 years maybe 2023 or 2024
Jirad you are so underrated.
Mako is not equivalent to oil.
With that in mind, guys, Jirard gives this game his Completionist rating of “Experience It”.
Can anyone believe this is free this month?
This game made me go and buy the original game on the switch, which is why it’s the best game of 2020 for me.
beautiful video
This is my first FF game. It feels a lot like the recent Tales of games. I like it!
I just hate it when you gotta play games on hard to complete them. That's my only gripe.
This is my favorite game of all time amazing game
So hyped we're getting the game on PS+ March. I'm finally going to experience it.
Ik I’m so hyped
I just freaking love watching and listening to someone talk about what they love, with such passion, it's just mesmerizing.
They just announced this as the free PS+ game for March 2021. I have never played a final fantasy game so I had to watch this to see what I was getting myself into.. Already been spoiled by others so no worries there. Haha I'm kinda nervous and excited at the same time
How do you like it?
YUFFIE OH MY GOD
I've played the original and enjoyed, though AND THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, I think it is great but not phenomenal. I am not buying the remake. Not because I don't like it, just that I have kind of been disillusioned with modern games. Still fun to watch others play it, but I will stay with my PS1 RPGs, and my Wii U collection. And since we are here, I hate what Tetsuya Nomura has done with the series as a whole, and I think that wing on Sephiroth is a ridiculous addition. Fits his them yes but unnecessary for him to have.
@Josh Boland I don't have a PS4 or 5. I don't plan on buying one.
It’s free on ps plus bruh
Excellent video 👏🏽
The enemies level up with you? So theres no point in grinding like in FF9?
I really appreciate your comments near the end about forming your own opinion about the game, and "adaptation" versus "remake."
We wanted the original story with Advent Children's aesthetic
This game deserves a remake. Now that I think about it, it was quite big for its time: - No Central Character (therefore - craft your own narrative) - story beats, hidden lore especially after the second half of the game were sprinkled and hidden throughout the game world - customize gear and party set ups without overbearing, deep diving into text menus (Like FF VIII or XII) - easy to understand customizable magic system - well hidden quest chains found throughout world ala BOTW - large and diverse playable, well written cast (not unlike Suikoden)
Also keep your head and arms/hands still please. Wtf
Barret is most annoying. The voice acting is awful. Always yelling. I almost quit the game because of that and looked online if you could shut him down
That’s his personality dipshit
Boss fights are too cimematic. I hate saving a limit break until the boss is weak only to be interrumped by another cutscene about the boss getting mad
Beat the game today. It was fascinating and a great time.
who else forgot Barrett "died" when you fought jenova
It’s for a second game for crisis core
I know I'm late to the party, but I have just recently started watching your videos. And while I love most of what you have to say, there are a few things I want to mention just in hoping to start a discussion about this wonderful game. Everyone is making assertions about how we don't know what will happen with the future because of all the things that have changed and I don't think that is actually true. I think they decided to expand upon the game and add to the story we know, without really changing anything. The only things that change that we are aware of are things that were never specified in the original game, or modified to make a more entertaining game play. No time in the game do we ever actually see Sephiroth, and the Arbiter of fate is could be an addition to the game to enable having an end boss. The whispers themselves are there to protect the planet and guide it's existence but what if the fate of the planet and it's well being are at odds. Fate can't let you save the planet but the whispers are there to ensure that the planet stays healthy. Really though, I just love this game and hope to find some people to talk about it with. And I think you are right, that what matters is we make our own opinions. Your last message at the end was really touching, and I hope it got a lot of people to play this game, it's sooo worth it. P.S. I bet the scene with Zach at the end of the game isn't a foreshadow of how things have changed, but rather, a foreshadow of what the next game is going to be. My money isn't on them continuing this right away, but I would bet we are getting the whole FF7 story from Crisis Core and beyond. (Probably excluding Dirge of Cerberus)
I love this game so much
In the WORST possible fucking way. Seriously its nothing but final hallway 13 with an FF7 facelift.
@YourOfficial Sephiroth You're right. Atleast Final hallway 13 didn't ruin a classic game with its garbage linearity. How the fuck is this tripe acceptable as a remake to a good but overrated psone classic like FF7? Its as linear as FFXIII and has the hack and slash bullshit of kingdom hearts. Give us proper turn based combat ESPICALLY if you're going to add a quote on quote "Classic" mode.
Nah
Watching this while building a gundam model kit.
I just wonder how they're gonna deal with power growth as the series goes forward. Resetting power doesn't really make much sense, starting at a set power level and going up seems like it could get ridiculous ('introducing tier-53 fire spell' is not something i want to see)... Not saying it was a bad idea, just intrigued about how they'll go about dealing with that potential issue.
I really loved the expansion of the slums' residents' stories
I’m going to buy the original final fantasy 7 on my Xbox
Crawling is just loading screens....

I was only 5 years old when I tried to play the first FF7 so I didn't understand much or make it far. So I consider playing the remake my first playthrough, and every aspect made it my favorite game of all time. Just literally a masterpiece, except for the level design. Throw those robot arms away.
I'm glad that you like ff7 but the only things that "redifine" what a remake can be are things I hope games never do again. The gameplay is fun and I love the graphics but it's just the first hour or so of the plot loaded with side quests. This is the equivalent of ending ffx at when you leave besaid.
Im returning after a many year hiatus. What happened to your first videos? Why did you have to take them down :( I assume youtube nonsense. That sucks man, sorry to hear that.
To tell you the truth I was also a bit wary for how long the midgar section was going to be until after seeing the second trailer from e3
the biggest change they made is that Biggs from avalanche actually survives, as we see after the credits. so maybe he'll come back in a later game!
It sold alot
This is my first Final Fantasy game(excluding the copy of Final Fantasy 6 that I stole from my brothers room) and I am exited to try the rest of the games
Jirard simps over a game for an hour. I don't know how FFVII remake is regarded as highly as it is. Despite being utterly breathtaking, the gameplay is mediocre at *best* and the story is a pacing and narrative *nightmare.* Who thought it was a good idea to make it so that an arbitrary meter had to fill before you could use magic in real-time combat? Who decided to fill the narrative with *pointless ghosts?* I know who, and it's the same guy who made his own original IP the most famously convoluted mess in the history of video games. FFVII:R is mediocre at best.
ähm the negative part crawling .... is just a loadingscreen loading ^^
36:34 Wait until you meet his brother Brockford
Dont kid yourself..a level where you play as RedXIII would have been amazing
Kinda surprised at the amount of hate here in the comments. I loved this game. I get some people not loving it, and a number of people have legitimate complaints, but also tons of people are calling it things like awful cash grab and complete garbage. I do not get how you could think that.
My boy seth was manipulating cloud to kill the fate guys so my boy can destroy the planet once for all at the end
There is a video i recommend. The channel is called sleepezi and the video is called Aerith dies in remake (complete material ultimania breakdown ) . It's really good :)
Comparing mako to oil told me when to stop watching this
I love how you pointed out the almost definitely cannon factoids about the whispers. Brings a much larger feeling aspect to the story
im going to complete ffvii advent children about an hour later ok im done
The only reason you have to crawl through the tight spaces is so the game has time to render the next area. Agreed, it totally messes with the feel of the game/pacing.
This is gonna get a complete it run outta me if it ever hits xbox. Or I can steal a ps4...whichever comes first
I'm gonna just put this out there: if you want a game that deals with themes of fate and struggling with trying to change one's own destiny, play Xenoblade Chronicles instead.
Honest to god awful
or just wait till it gets a reduction before the next section even comes out and buy it then ;D
