  • GvK is essentially a Hollywood version of classic Godzilla Versus films. the plot isnt supposed to matter that much. that's the entire point of making a Godzilla movie. also i think you might have missed the context regarding the temple and the axe and whatnot. the temple was built by Kong's race. they were rivals against Godzilla's race. yes, they had whole races. and they simply died out over time. but at their prime, the Kongs used the dorsal spikes of the Godzillas and crafted weapons from em. why? cuz the Kongs are smart and used tools. the monsterverse films dont outright tell you these things, but the information is there, you just have to connect the dots tbh. also the other titans arent around because where Ghidorah said "wake up and fuck shit up," Godzilla said "calm the fuck down and go the fuck to sleep." i believe this info is given in the credits of King of the Monsters

  • the dumbest part of the movie was when the fighter jets get about 100 yards away from Godzilla to fire their missiles that have a range of over 100 miles just so he can swat them down. But yes wow that chick is so hot

  • King of the Monsters was superior, hands down. I don't object Millie one bit, she's a charmer, so as Rebecca. P. S. You were too drunk to watch the movie, big monsters get their asses whopped big time, and the plot from movie one and Kong Skull Island, the hollow earth, moves forward.

  • Alexander Skarsgard was the geeky science guy and he's actually a great actor, just check him out in Generation Kill, where you can very easily forget he's not the actual marine he portrays. He was definitely wasted in this movie, even though I did enjoy this movie... but definitely not because of the human characters.

  • I went into this movie with my expectations set to “Michael Bay” mode: I expected larger than life, ridiculously over the top CGI action with mediocre human characters at best- and actively bad and cliche human characters at worst. This was the perfect level of expectation for me, and allowed me to just sit back and enjoy the big dumb fun action.

  • Attack on Titan is a good example of mixing giant monsters with good plots and interesting characters. But sometimes it's good to see giant monsters beating the crap out of each other. It's like boxing, but at a way larger, fantastic scale.

  • this movie went along way in reversing the memory of the 1976 and 2005 king kong movies, where kong was shown as a pretty cool guy ... before being horrifically murdered by lots of tiny machine gun bullets and falling to his death from a tall building

  • Drinker, love your stuff! I just want to throw down a quick thought. Stories can only really take form in so many ways. As adults, we've basically seen them all by this point. So yes, versus movies that end with fighting a third villain have been done but that's still somewhat new to the kids today. We are here to criticize it being done poorly which I GREATLY appreciate from you. Any way, thanks man!

Fantastic Four (2015)" that appears to have been produced with EXTREME effort & care and posted to VIworld on or around April 6, 2021 appears to be listed on my hard drive... However, a video from on or around April 6, 2021 no longer seems to be listed on the Drinker's video feed... Very Strange ;) Lucky for me I somehow ended up with a phantom Critical Drinker video production on my hard drive; a file that by all other scrutiny just no longer appears to exist!

  • No physical damage to either Godzilla or Kong during their fights? Kong almost drowned, had his shoulder dislocated, his chest scratched up and his heart almost stopped. Godzilla left exhausted, had a limp in his leg, and was severely injured by Mecha-Godzilla. With all due respect, are you sure we watched the same movie? And Mecha-Godzilla, I suppose one could argue the ends justify the means, but when those means turn on your ends, what do you do then? In this movie humanity was fortunate enough that big monkey and big lizard teamed up to take out robot lizard. Can't really disagree about the human characters though, none of them were very interesting, and the concept of Hollow Earth is awesome, but the physics are wacky there. We have to just accept some things, but I agree we can't be expected to throw ALL logic out the window. I think all the character development definitely went to the titular stars of the movie, most notably Kong. A movie made by fans, and for the fans, and we all left pretty satisfied. This movie is getting fans back in theaters. I've seen it 4 times and the theater is about as full as they'll let it get for now.

  • I mean for the general movie goer this is spot on. However for fans of the Monsterverse these questions have all been answered. Not that it makes it any less ridiculous or nonsensical. I absolutely love all of these movies.

  • Minus the brief “environmentalist” crap in this series, I’m having a blast with these. They pretty much do what they’re supposed to do...just have some kick-ass fun. Effects are good enough and I’ll take this over the politically-driven crap we get too often today. But ya, once again, you’re pretty spot on. These are like the original Charlie’s Angels movies: just having fun with the content. I’m just praying that whatever comes next doesn’t involve Elizabeth Banks or Kristen Stewart.

  • Look, I get how you might feel like the plot was thin in this movie. However, the fact of the matter is that there was no way mecha Godzilla was going to be the hero, just like there was no way Godzilla vs Kong would have had either of them seriously die, as both of them are big names in the monsterverse that they built over three previous movies, although I forget that the first one exists due to the fact that they had at least three setups for a serious monster fight and then cut away, leaving me blue-balled in my local theater. If they were going to have a serious monster fight, they would have needed a few other monsters like Gigan or Baragon. But the people in the story would have figured out that Godzilla was being antagonized by them, and then Kong would still be stuck on skull island...

  • I was expecting a more than average story. I was expecting this movie will explore the history of titans, kongs past, explore more about hollow earth(reminds me of ice age) But it was just a monkey kicking lizards ass and vice versa. I would prefer our planet/planet earth like documentary over this shit. Well what can you expect from a movie series where people aren't terrified of the monsters which can kill millions, instead treat them as heroes.

It would have been far more interesting to see the Mechagodzilla team, or the humans after titans wreck everything. Team godzilla would've been an easy swap for the mecha people saying they did absolutely nothing.

  • Ehh, the fights are enough to watch it again. Or at least watch just the fights on VIworld and not the rest of the movie. There are two teams and this movie, and neither of them do much but follow the monsters. Seriously, all Millie's team does is get in Apex and pour some liquor on a computer consul. Actually, Josh was the only one who actually does something, while the other two literally stands around to where they weren't even needed in this movie. And according to Wikipedia, she describes her character as a coming-of-age story. Madison literally does nothing but go from one place to another. I also knew the second I saw an annoying podcast who has crap coming out of his was gonna do nothing either. It would've been difficult, but made way more sense to have the other group of characters run to Apex, break in some how and stopped Mecha Godzilla. And also, does this seem a lot like Jules Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth?" Other than that, best monster fights I've ever seen.

  • I think with so much entertainment media focusing to heavy on political ideology, a movie with a giant lizard vs a giant monkey devoid of any plot was pretty much a sight for sore eyes. Any other year with a string of quality films and tv shows, this would be forgettable trash. But with being bombarded with politics, the affects of the pandemic, the decline in just fun entertaining stuff, anything with pretty colors and loud noises was just going to get people happy again. I watched this on HBO Max only because it was available and while it’s a pretty bad film. I’m not going to lie: seeing Big Monke punch Big Lizard made me ignore my troubles for a couple of hours.
