  • To be fair to King of the Monsters, part of Ghidora's whole thing is that he makes storms. Still, it was nice to have clearer fights.

    Patrick ReynoldsPatrick Reynolds5 ngày trước
  • I don't think the opening bit means to imply that Godzilla killed them all. I think it's that he's dominant over them. The reason Kong and Godzilla fight is that they're both alpha-predators, like Ghidora was. I imagine most of those other titans are alive and well.

    Patrick ReynoldsPatrick Reynolds5 ngày trước
  • They used neon because they needed it dark so the CGI didn't look like ass. But If you have a city at night there's going to be a ton of lights everywhere. So you find a city where there's a lot of neon. Vegas, Hong Kong, And you shoot it there. It's a nice aesthetic but the reason was it was just cheaper to do a CGI scene because you don't need as much detail in the dark.

  • Honestly, while I'm admittedly biased because I adore Showa Era Toho monster movies, because I grew up on Godzilla, I do think that those old 50s/60s/70s films, for the budgets and time constraints and technologies they had to work with, mostly did a really fantastic job. For as "cheesy" and "bad" as many try to paint them as, they manage to have a shit-ton more personality, spirit, and entertainment value than any of this modern shit. I wouldn't even bother watching Toho's own "Shin Gojira", because the monster design was laughably bad. That shit just isn't Godzilla. The 2014 movie was OK, but very dull for most of it. King of the Monsters was more entertaining, though still a bit lifeless, and it really seemed cheap/lazy for them to make up all of these lame generic monsters outside of Godzilla/Rodan/Mothra/Ghidorah, instead of just using the MANY other existing Toho monsters, as they should have. I still haven't seen this G vs. K yet, and while I still more or less intend to, I can't say I'm excited about it. I haven't heard great things. On the one hand, I'm glad that these Hollywood films exist, because it keeps the property alive, and proves Godzilla can make money. On the other hand, I'd FAR rather just have Toho get off their fat asses and make more themselves. NOT like Shin, but actually use (obviously updated) "suits and minatures" tech, supplemented with CGI for effects. But I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one. Power Rangers can still do it, but apparently Toho/Godzilla can't.

  • Why does Jay keep saying this movie didn't concern itself with the human characters? Every time Kong got in a fight, the humans had to save him. On the boats, they had to turn them off. In the center of the earth, that flying snake thing had to be blown up, and fighting mecha-godzilla the stupid nerd kid had to pour a drink on a computer.

  • Wowzers! If you enjoyed this movie you're going to LOVE what happens next: While still in the planning stages, the ingenious K&G sequel will take Kong back to his roots and show us the events that transformed the thousand foot monkey into the plucky 30ft. brawler kidnapped from his Skull Island home by an overzealous Carl Denham and put on display as a sideshow attraction in the Big Apple. For the first time, we learn the remarkable matchmaking role Godzilla played in setting Kong up with the beautiful Ann Darrow, and we witness him standing at Kong's side, fulfilling the time-honoured tradition of "best man" during a most spectacular wedding scene. When the crafty Denham captures the now 30ft. "8th Wonder" and makes for America, Godzilla follows in swift pursuit and becomes Kong's protector in a strange and violent new world called "civilization." A life and death showdown looms when Godzilla picks up Kong and his diminutive bride and deposits them on the top of the Empire State Building, as a locked and loaded squadron of America's finest closes in to shoot the happy couple down...
