On Saturday, April 24 at 5:08 a.m. EDT, 9:08 UTC, SpaceX’s Dragon autonomously docked with the International Space Station (ISS) after Falcon 9 launched the spacecraft to orbit from historic Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday, April 23 at 5:49 a.m. EDT, 9:49 UTC.
This is the first human spaceflight mission to fly astronauts on a flight-proven Falcon 9 and Dragon. The Falcon 9 first stage supporting this mission previously launched the Crew-1 mission in November 2020, and the Dragon spacecraft previously flew Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley to and from the International Space Station during SpaceX’s Demo-2 mission in 2020.
As part of the Commercial Crew Program, NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Akihiko Hoshide, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas Pesquet flew aboard the Dragon spacecraft on its second operational mission to the space station. This will be the first time Dragon will fly two international partners and it will also be the first time two Crew Dragons are attached simultaneously to the orbiting laboratory.
After an approximate six-month stay, Dragon and the Crew-2 astronauts will depart from the space station no earlier than October 31 for return to Earth and splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.

Following docking Kimbrough, McArthur, Hoshide, and Pesquet joined the Expedition 65 crew of Shannon Walker, Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Mark Vande Hei of NASA, as well as Soichi Noguchi of JAXA and Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Pyotr Dubrov. The crew was welcomed aboard during a ceremony with Steve Jurczyk, acting NASA administrator; Kathy Lueders, associate administrator, Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters; Hiroshi Yamakawa, president, JAXA; and Josef Aschbacher, director general, ESA.

Crew-2 Astronauts:
- Shane Kimbrough (NASA)
- Megan McArthur (NASA)
- Thomas Pesquet (European Space Agency, or ESA)
- Akihiko Hoshide (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA)
Partner Agency Experts:
- Steve Jurczyk (Acting NASA Administrator)
- Bob Cabana (Kennedy Space Center Director)
- Junichi Sakai (JAXA ISS Program Manager)
- Frank de Winne (ESA ISS Program Manager)

The planet "Saturn", 25 states, 14 billion population, there are no powerful flying machines, there are wars, multilingualism. The Good News planet is 72 times the size of the earth. 12 heavens make up 117 planets or one World, and so on. I just wrote what I received from grandfather who lived in the forest. The manuscripts describe the planets, who lives there, how tall and so on, I wrote only very little. 16 Worlds make up one system - one world, 12 systems make up ACRODYTON ,,,, 12 ACRODYTONS make up Infinity, there is no beginning and end.I will sell these manuscripts, they also have a cure for earthly diseases and invisible and sent diseases. Тhe planet "SELIKIR "B" - people of brown color, brown plants emitting special voices, there is no warrior, people live 2500 earth years, there are diseases and divine doctors with divine power. Etc. ...ALEKO is the ruler of the solar system, he sends ships and aircraft with people to the earth, to observe our earth, since there is disorder on the earth and there is no truth, an aircraft with 5 people will soon appear. CAPRICORN-1006 - the formation of human souls .. Planet ZIRIY is a high planet where there are no diseases, no doctors, where the immortal world of the outside world, where there is an impulse of healing healing of divine forces - spiritual, to preserve the life of an earthly person. The planet SOKON - a high mind, 200 trillion kilometers from the earth, holy heavenly forces - from there comes a healing stream. Phosphenic ResistancePhosphenic Resistance10 ngày trước
    • @Phosphenic Resistance I am not an expert, but as far as I know, your example of a ball bouncing around doesn’t seem to make sense. You can eat, digest, and be perfectly fine when you’re lying down or even if you’re upside down. You have to remember that in space it’s not like there are no forces pushing the astronaut around, they are constantly moving around by themselves and just like in your stomach when you move you push the food in your stomach around, and so do they. Your body does not rely on gravity to move things through the digestive system. There’s a process called Peristalsis which takes care of it. I answered your question about why pictures look different of the earth in a previous comment. But try this. Take a round ball, and draw a line around its middle (the equator), then draw a distinctive shape somewhere above the equator, and then try to look at the shape from all kinds of different angles, and you will see the shape change in size as you do. You can actually, literally, do this with a globe.

    • @Phosphenic Resistance well said, a simple camera. But they'll tell you its the vibration from the rocket. Either way, atleast put a few and try. We don't honestly mind elon.

      Derek GreeneDerek Greene5 ngày trước
    • I think you are mistaken about what an opinion is. Opinions are about the deeper meanings behind things, for example, thinking that someone should or should not do something is an opinion, meanwhile I wouldn’t say and I don’t think you would either that it is an opinion that the Eiffel tower is 1063 feet tall. That is an observable and measurable feature of reality. The question of whether they landed on the moon is not an opinion, it is an analysis you have made by looking at physical reality. You are stating it as a fact of the matter that “we have not landed on the moon.” For example, I know people who believe that NASA should exist, and I know people that believe NASA shouldn’t exist. Those are opinions because they personal judgments and beliefs, it is a judgment the people make internally. Whether things ought to be a certain way, not what they are.

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe5 ngày trước
    • Can someone explain to me how is it possible to digest in space ? cause without gravity the digestion system can't work normally, like you would have a ball in your stomach boucing, making you sick and can't process digesting..this "ball" should normally be in contact with the "lower walls" of the stomach so that digestion can take place ; but it's impossible in space so.. Also, why there is so many different "official" footage of the earth orbiting in space" ? There is like 5 or 6 differents "real images" of it, and none of them show the same.. how it's possible ? I think there is no real footage of the earth in space only CGI. and God with all those billions NASA get, how it is possible they do not have better cameras and set up to make better images, and not cut and editing things looking like an Holywood movie.. Im french so be kind with my eng.. and no i don't believe earth is flat..it's just many things does not make any sense..

  • How is this helping fight climate change?

    Elevation ViewElevation View10 ngày trước
    • How are you?

      Tom hartmanTom hartman7 ngày trước
    • @Elevation View I would just argue that while research to remove micro plastics from the sea is extremely important, one of the biggest ways that we will reduce our impact on the climate is by developing better more environmentally conscious ways of manufacturing as well as more efficient machines and materials. That is one of the ISS’s most important tasks, it is a lab where materials research can be done in a very hyper controlled environment that is allowing us to develop next gen materials. But on that front of rocket pollution, one of the more modern fuels being used in the most modern engines is methane. A methane engine literally releases water vapor as effectively it’s only byproduct with a little bit of CO2 also generated. And in the example of SpaceX, they are going to be using solar power to power their methane factory. Using space X again and example, they have reused and intend to reuse their rocket launch vehicles many many times. Currently they have use the same booster to launch nine payloads, but with their starship program they’re developing a rocket in which the raptor engines, those are the main engines of the rocket, are intended to work for 1000 launches. I agree that non-reusable rockets are a pretty big waste now that we have reusable ones, but I think in the long term, the effect of rockets on greenhouse gas emissions is minuscule compared to other more trivial greenhouse gas emissions and offset quite a bit by the benefit they provide us to create a more environmentally friendly world.

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe8 ngày trước
    • @Joe Shmoe however this manned launch, the space station itself is totally unnecessary and still adds/has added 1,000’s of tonnes of greenhouse gases to our atmosphere. All of it is unnecessary. Even reusable rockets have carbon footprints. Now if we used all this engineering expertise as a means of extracting plastic pollution from our oceans, make oceans plastic free, now that impresses me.

      Elevation ViewElevation View9 ngày trước
    • @Elevation View , I would argue that it is one of the least carbon generating industries for how much information it gives us about reducing our carbon footprint. Some of the very satellites they launch, including the ISS, have instruments for measuring important ecological information about the earth so that we can fix the problem. Plus, The fact that SpaceX reuses their boosters and capsule is just another offset for their carbon footprint, because of instead of throwing away all the work done to create the booster and then make a new one, they just refurbish it a little bit and it’s ready to go to launch another payload. See by spreading the carbon footprint out over a much larger amount of launches that amount per launch drops off. The amount of carbon released by the fuels is also really minimal for the overall carbon emissions. The Everyday Astronaut released a good video about how much rockets pollute.

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe9 ngày trước
    • @Joe Shmoe I can understand your point. However the carbon footprint produced to get this rocket into orbit is colossal. Whilst the earth is dying? Wrong priorities.

    • That was a very small piece of debris from the stage separation process traveling across the capsule opening just in front of the camera. Note that it is close to the camera, and not close to the departing Stage 2 booster. There are many such debris events caught by the on-board cameras during boost flight. Space X spares no expense making real time camera records of just about everything "just in case". Those are indispensable for "analyzing and fixing the problem" if something should go wrong. (The video quality is a lot better than it was during the Apollo days when I was a Tiger Team member for Atlas boosters and Surveyor 1 among other launches. Still exciting!).

    • @Derek Greene do you understand that they use pumped water in a lining suit to keep the astronauts cool just like in other industries. There was a leak in the suit that let some water into the inner layer. Almost every one your points can be pretty easily refuted with just some rudimentary information gathering. Also, there isn’t just one Newton’s law. Would you agree that propulsion is not really an issue for you? Before, you said that they couldn’t use thrusters, but now you seem to be backtracking on that point. Would you agree that thrusters can work in non atmospheric conditions?

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe5 ngày trước
    • @Joe Shmoe yeah I know the newton's law, zero gravity. And about the the walks with bubbles floating past them, you've never heard of that,or seen it. So have about a million people. VIworld take them down. Look for them there there, I'm not gonna make it up. You have heard of the astronaut who's helmet almost filled with water.they had to cut his walk short or he would of drowned. I can't remember the names of the vid but there out there.,anyway have a good one.

      Derek GreeneDerek Greene5 ngày trước
    • @Derek Greene also, could you give me some info to find spacewalks with bubbles? I honestly have never seen what you are talking about.

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe5 ngày trước
    • @Derek Greene why would thrusters not work if it’s 0G, I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding. Do you know how one of newtons laws says that for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction, even in 0G if you throw something in one direction and equal force is applied to you and you will move in the opposite direction. What a rocket does is it throws propellant at high velocity out the back and in return it gets pushed to greater speeds . so they don’t just launch to the ISS and hit their target perfectly, spacecraft onboard thrusters that fix any mistakes in their initial orbit. Just like when you are in a car and you keep modifying how much you push the accelerator to keep at the speed limit. I don’t know how much more this conversation will be useful if you don’t even understand what a rocket is. I don’t feel you can argue agains something in good faith while fundamentally misunderstanding it and since you seem to like to research, perhaps find a video on the basics of rockets or at least propulsion. Also, why do you say rockets are 50 50? They are much more reliable than that.

      Joe ShmoeJoe Shmoe5 ngày trước
    • @Joe Shmoe sorry for the misspellings, I meant if you stepped into a rocket thats 50 50 of getting up there you'd be 100 pct focused. I dunno maybe they did land on the moon,I'm not a scientist, but there's a lot of space walks with bubbles floating up,and one guys helmet was quater full. That means there was a leak, out in space. When people have an opinion they put you down as a flat earther or stupid. Most people are sheep, and are afraid to ask questions. But yeah, I don't believe elon musk put a car in space, and on the ISS there hair should be floating and moving all the time, even getting in their face(the girls that is) which it doesn't. Another thing, they said there travelling 27 thousand miles an hour. How can they take off from earth go 420 miles into a weightless environment and within a cm align with the iss ss?? How do they do that ?? Remember, neither can can use thrusters, zero gravity. I've been looking into the moon landings for years, and I'd love nothing more for it to all be real, for humanity, but I'm a realistic person, and a lot doesn't add up,know what I mean.
