There was an idea. To bring together a group of remarkable VIworldrs to see if we could become something more.
On this, the week of Avengers: Endgame, a couple of remarkable VIworldrs assembled and each made a video describing One Marvelous Scene from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I took a moment from Avengers: Age of Ultron. I think The Afterparty is one of the best acted, written, and directed scenes the MCU has created thus far. Here's why.

  • I'd need at least ten different moments to encapsulate my favorite moments. Maybe I'll make a few sometime. Bravo on narrowing it down to just one, and you put into words exactly how I felt about this scene. One thing I think you missed though was how Thor immediately stopped smiling when the hammer moved for Steve. It was a small moment that highlighted how insecure Thor still was in his status as being worthy, followed up later in the movie by how uncomfortable Thor is with Vision being able to wield it. Even when he comes up with the trick towards the end in the Ultron fight the little after banter from Thor comes off as awkward.

  • Hello from 2021. Also, there's been a fan theory going around that Captain America was worthy of Mjolnir the whole time, which is why it moved when he tried to pick it up, but that he pretended to be unable to just so that he wouldn't make Thor feel bad.

    spamuel98spamuel982 tháng trước
  • Fun fact: Steve was actually 100% worthy of lifting the hammer. When it budged and he realized he could lift it, he made the conscious choice not to lift it since he didn’t want to embarrass Thor.

    • @Luis Amador He also had on his conscience the fact that he knew Bucky killed Tony's parents and was keeping it a secret from him.

    • I wonder tho, in that movie he was still a man of war, his nightmare was having a life without a war, without purpose. After the events of Infinity war he had 5 years to think about it, and finally in endgame he decided to live his life with peggy. Finding purpose in a normal life. Idk, it is how I see it.

  • Vision can hold the hammer as he is a robot I think. Similar to how a elevator can hold the hammer

  • 7:35 There's this common misconception about the farmhouse scene in Age of Ultron. People who aren't actually paying attention think it's about sterility, when in reality it is about abuse survival. It's very easy to break the scene down. A man and a woman are having an argument about their doomed relationship. The man says: You shouldn't be with me. I'm a monster. I'm such a monster, I can't have children. The woman says: Whoah there. I can't have kids either. Does that make me a monster? Then Widow goes on to monologue her tragic backstory and abusive childhood. She explains the series of mindwarp flashbacks Scarlet Witch put her through. And all anyone hears in all of that is "sterility equals monster." That's the main problem with Age of Ultron. Thor's hot tub cave sidequest and the excessive action scenes clutter the film and don't give Black Widow's backstory and character arc the room to breathe that it deserves. Black Widow isn't a monster because she can't get pregnant. She's a monster because an evil organization took her and hundreds of other little girls and turned them into monsters. They made monsters of children by stripping away their humanity piece by piece, and the very last piece of humanity they took was the ability to create life. Ensuring that those little girls could only take life. The great thing about Age of Ultron is that it encapsulates the arc of Black Widow's character development over her entire life, and explains why she is the way she is. The biggest shortcoming of Age of Ultron is that it's missing the scene where Black Widow regains her humanity. The scene that explains why she fights so hard to get Hawkeye back in Avengers 1, and why she does what she does in Endgame. And that scene isn't the first time she meets Hawkeye. It's not the first time he convinces her to join Shield. It's not even the first time he takes her to the farmhouse to meet his wife and kids. It's the fifth or sixth time she goes to the Barton farm for family dinner. It's the first time Hawkeye's daughter says "I love you Aunty Nat." Because in all Black Widow's actions across all the Marvel movies there is one thing she will never let happen. She is never going to let herself be put in the position where she's the one who has to explain to her niece why that little girl's father isn't coming home.

  • Now that Snydercut is upon us, I think what Snyder tries to do, is the total opposite to the MCU does with its characters, make them godlike, out of this world with grand spectacles. Maybe it could work, I guess we just have to see..

  • An interesting belief my dad has talked about before Endgame was that he believed Cap could always pick up the hammer. His theory was he was about to pick it up but realized that although it gave a little tug, he could do it. Not wanting to show up Thor/ "be the ruler of Asgard" as Tony put it, he didn't lift it up. Thus making him even more worthy, ironically lol. Idk if he was completely worthy back then or there was something stopping him then that was resolved in Endgame, but it's an interesting theory.

  • I told my friends Cap could lift Mjolnir during that scene but didn't to spare Thor, I got called an idiot. Then Endgame happened and I fed them their doubts on a cold platter. My reasoning was, you either can or can't lift Mjolnir. There is no inbetween wobbling.

  • Idk why everyone views the sterilization thing as some like "why is she a monster because she's sterile?" that's not the fucking point. The point is her life was stolen from her. She was indoctrinated and forced into this life of murdering and she was able to escape it but the ability to have kids - the ability to have a normal family - will never be given back to her. She was modified to become the ultimate killing machine. That's why she's a monster.

  • While Sarah Finn is a casting agent, she did not cast _everyone_ in the MCU. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark was someone Jon Favreau chose and championed for, Tom Hiddleston was specifically chosen by Kenneth Branagh who knew Hiddleston, and Tom Holland was chosen by Sony. And, according to Ryan Coogler, it was Kevin & the Russos. who chose Chadwick (although Sarah could've been the one to find him for them)

  • I know I'm late but, Widow doesn't think she's a monster because she was sterilized. She thinks she's a monster because of how the sterilization allowed her to weaponize every aspect of her body with no consequences to her future missions. Anyone that thinks she saying she's a monster because her humanity hinges on being able to become pregnant, is an idiot.
