Is it because of advanced technology, or the crew really dont have much control of the ship ie it is flown by the ground crew ? same thing goes for their Space suits?

  • I have a 5yr old son who will watch the entire process on his tablet when it comes to anything space related or launches. Like when the Starships do their testing and also these launches and returns like in this video. He will spend hours watching it. I have no issue letting my son watch this type of stuff for 2 hours straight. If he was just watching VIworld kids or playing a mindless game I would obviously not let him do that. He ask me every single day to bring up rockets and space stuff on VIworld for him. He is absolutely in love with it. We live in Ohio and are about 1 hour away from where they train the astronauts In the USA so I hope to all the Gods in the universe he goes into the space field. Yes, its terrifying to imagine your own son doing this stuff and even the possibility he might be one of the first humans to go Mars. I would be so proud and terrified. Not to mention the first few humans on Mars would be a one way ticket most likely meaning he (and his team) would die on Mars. I hope he sticks with this space stuff! Would be so cool if he did! Its obviously up to him though. He could be a trashman and I would still be proud of him.

  • Friction? I would have thought mostly compression is the major factor with re-entry.

    Tom KennedyTom Kennedy2 ngày trước
    • @Ed Starrs Thanks Ed, very informative. But I was really talking about the spacecraft itself, and how I thought atmospheric compression was more of a factor than friction on causing heat during reentry.

      Tom KennedyTom KennedyNgày trước
    • They go from zero to one atmosphere of pressure, equivalent to diving 33 feet below sea level. They would need to equalize pressure in their ears constantly on the way down or their ear drums would implode.

  • We are watching the beginning of the end of the astronaut as this sort of emotional human.. the hugs, the professional camaraderie. In 10 years, if not sooner, these events will be commonplace and not all people working in space will be as highly trained and vetted as these people. There will be a levelling of standards and different peer cohorts will become established. Space is becoming less mysterious. Some amazing times in which we live.

    david petersendavid petersen2 ngày trước
  • This is an amazing accomplishment for the engineers, designers, and mission control staff that built and operate these craft. I fail to see any mystique for the passengers. These days, they are merely passengers on a fully automated ship. They are no more astronauts than the people riding in an airliner should be considered as aircrew. If you disagree with me, my question to you is “What is the threshold that you WOULD consider them as merely being passengers?” Keep in mind, sooner or later, even families with young children will be riding on rockets simply to “hitch a ride” to where they’re going. I contend that we’ve already crossed that threshold.

  • We in big trouble. I mean. Why does the ship look like crap?! What?! Tesla’s paint job can’t handle a little space travel? We need to focus. And stop being so damn racist. We should have been in the “fifth element by now”. Or at least “total recall”. I mean do you guys even remember back to the future? Or star trek? I don’t remember the ships having paint job issues! But honestly, good work traveling through space in that thing. You guys are real crazies. Me. I’ll just close my eyes when the meteor hits. Jesus says, “how will you do the big things when you can’t do the little things?” Well that just means that we should focus on little things like health care for all, and common sense world health evaluation before we can fly out and conquer space together. Everything is half assed because we are worried about the other man’s complexion instead of realizing that we are all the same. By doing this, realizing that we are all the same, we can finally become an advanced human race. What’s that? We are an advanced human race already? We cant be. Why? Because we can’t do the little things. Like get along with each other. No matter what the f@&$ you look like.

  • How did they get in and out of those suits in such a small space? Why does the capsule move in such an erratic way when viewed from space station? They say it's because of camera adjustment but the background doesn't alter at all. That's just a couple of things about this. You are being deceived people and if none of this looks fishy to you then you're stupid.

    MajowhMajowh2 ngày trước
    • You are right, I went back and viewed the "camera adjustment" and it is the white dot that moves against the background, not the camera, looks totally fake like a laser pointer or something. 2 are in suits, the next minute their all out of suits, and then all in suits?? No footoage from inside during re-entry and splashdown? And what about rapid pressurization of going from zero to one atmoshphere in seconds, shouldn't that implode their eardrums. It looks like the "windows" turned into computer screens, lol.
