  • Honestly, Naruto up to and including the Sasuke Retrieval Arc had some of the most incredible fights I've seen in shonen anime (ending with the battle between Naruto and Sasuke). Sadly, Naruto Shippuuden fucked that part up big-time, with a few memorable exceptions...

  • 16:40 I think Madara was an amazing villain... He was built up for so long and when he showed up it payed off He has an amazing background story and his ideology is also interesting to see contrast with other characters in the show Kaguya on the other hand...

  • I went back and rewatched the whole series (series 1 & Shippuden), after years of leaving it after the 5 kage summit arc, and it only took me a couple weeks. Skipping all the filler, fast-forwarding through all the recaps, its not *that* massive. It is massive but its not this absurdly monumental endeavor you kinda make it out to be at the end lol, though I suppose it depends how much time you have and how quickly you can consume media. I had to eat almost a decade's worth of my own words after watching the whole thing too because after all that time ragging on Naruto for being bad, I honestly liked the majority of it quite a lot. As far as generic shonen jump content goes there's a fairly good reason why its always hovered near the top. Also the OST for the anime is just absurdly good, way better than it has any right to be.

  • I did a rewatch of the entire series at the beginning of the pandemic. I looked up a list of all the filler and skipped all those episodes and it was lovely. I did the same with InuYasha a couple years ago. I love all the characters in both those series. Not only was there a ton of nostalgia but it's kind of like seeing old friends.

  • I was into the Naruto manga and anime when they came out but eventually started losing interest at the beginning of the war arc. I actually remember the last chapter I read was when Madara showed up, but real-life issues prevented me from continuing. However, the fade of interest also kept me getting back into the series until finally this year. I like Shippudden and skipped all the fillers, but it was horrible watching so many great characters getting sidelined due to absurd power gaps. Us as fans never getting Rock Lee vs Neji is borderline criminal, and so is the lack of character in any female character outside of Tsunade. However it does have many great moments as well, and I won't lie about tearing up when Jiarya met his fate or discovering Itachi's tragic past. I couldn't agree more about Naruto being full of highs and lows.

  • Naruto Shippuden was a mistake. It was so mediocre compared to the original series. There are a few things I liked about Shippuden, but that still wasn't enough to get me invested as much as I was invested in the original series.I think it's safe to say that there is no way Naruto can ever be good again after Shippuden and Boruto ruined everything the original stood for.I hope that One Piece doesn't end up the same way.

  • I just finished watching four months ago. I didn’t really wanted to watch it back then because I was under the impression that it was a ninja version of DBZ. Now that I’m done it really wasn’t. And I never cry when watching movies, shows, etc but Naruto was the closest thing to ever making me cry. The only things I disliked were the ton of filler episodes, the war arc was too long, and that it didn’t really stick to being just ninja and it ended up being ninjas vs humanoid aliens type of stuff. But overall I think it’s a really good show imo.

  • Agree with pretty much everything, except one point. I would absolutely recommend the naruto anime to certain people, given a few caveats: 1. The person has to already have a love for fantasy and a respect for animation as something deeper than kids’ cartoons (for example, if one of ur fav shows is ATLA, there’s a VERY good chance you’ll love naruto) and 2. I’d send them a link to a list of all the filler episodes so they can skip ALL of them.

  • I have to disagree with you on 16:40. Uchiha Madara was the character that actually drove the entire plot, start to finish from the shadows. The 4th Ninja world war was a necessary arc to bring closure to a lot of unanswered smaller arcs and slowly bring the entire show to the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke.

  • Gotta be honest, I’ve never gotten past like the first 4 or 5 episodes of Naruto, bored the hell out of me, I’ve tried multiple times to watch it and just couldn’t get through much of it, I’ve watched a lot of anime, if it’s even fairly well known I’ve seen it, but Naruto was the one I just couldn’t seem to get any interest in. Now, Bleach, that was good in the first arc or two, basic Shonen stuff, but decent, but it was just the same story over and over and over, same plot, different names for villains, was never surprised that anime crashed and burned, plus I think I hated Orihime more than any character in anything I’ve seen, if Ichigo had killed her in the beginning, life would have been soooo much easier for everyone else.

  • I feel like if they gave manga artist at LEAST 2-3 weeks for one chapter it wouldn't mess up their story so much because they would have more time to outline and think. Naruto has a lot of plot holes and ass pulls but I'm not too mad about it because at the end of the day I still love the series and giving the fact that Kishimoto only had 1 week per chapter (around 15 pages) its a great story! I'm defiantly rewatching it

  • Correction: In this video you claimed that Kishimoto is roughly worth $20M but that's just waaaayyyyyy off Manga authors earned 42 yen or $0.38 for every manga volumes sold due to royalty and they also earned 12,000 yen/$108.46 or more per page drawn for Shonen Jump (both information is revealed in Bakuman) If we're going by the data that you provided of Naruto's lifetime volume sales of 220M copies sold then if you multiplied that by 42 yen or $0.38 then Kishimoto earned 9240000000 yen or $83,522,670 in manga volume sales alone. If you combined that with his earnings in jump then if you calculate it it will be like this: 700 chapters multiplied by the average of 19 pages means that Naruto has atleast 13,300 pages, if you multiply 13,300 to the minimum of 12,000 yen earnings per page then Kishimoto earned at least 15960000 yen or $1,442,600 from drawing for Shonen Jump(yeah this is a really low earning but the volume sales are their bread and butter anyway) So if we calculate Kishimoto's earnings from volume sales and salaries from Jump then he at least have $84,965,270 in the bank and that's not including all his royalties from tons of merchandises, commercials, games and such Kishimoto is worth at least $100,000,000+

  • One Piece is more succesful than Naruto, but it also does have about 20 more volumes, and a much longer runtime. I think its strange how even though Naruto isn't comparable to a lot of animes in certain standpoints and years, its still one of the most popular animes (undeniably). Its fanbase is incredibly strong and its simplicity is strangely nostalgic. We've pretty much grown with the characters so I don't this anime is going to lose its overall popularity (not in manga sales as it has already ended) will happen in a very long time.

He expresses the theme of working hard when your not born with natural gifts more than the kid literally born with god in him.

  • Currently watching it for the first time with my best friend. We just watched the episode where (SPOILER ALERT) Neji dies, and gotta say that it's been a couple of episodes since I enjoyed the show. The power level has become so insane that the supporting cast is absolutely irrelevant, and I personally really hate Naruto as a character (egocentric, saviour complex, eccetera...). Anyhow, there are still characters that I enjoy watching, like my boy Orochimaru and his shaenanigans, but it hasn't been the same since the start of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Naruto is at its best when the different characters showcase with intelligence their different powers, while creating meaningful connections between them. My favourite arc is the Council of the Kage one, and I really enjoy the whole part dedicated to the death of Danzo (probably the best villain of the show), but big Kaiju with Death Star level powers is really not what I came to Naruto for. It is losing all of its ambiguity and its cleverness, while at the same time destroying the arcs of its characters, like Neji's, whose arc ultimately becomes accepting his inferiority to the "born lucky" Hinata and Naruto just because of the social norms that limited his family. Honestly, it's such a shame; watching Naruto was a chill time that was very relaxing because of the natural flow of the narrative, but it degenerates so badly in its last 200 or so episodes that I don't even know if I want to finish it.

  • Uchiha are the main issue with Naruto especially Shippuden. At some point, Kishimoto became so unhealthy obsessed with those insane red-eyed ninja that he forgot to write a good story. Sasuke's spiral into insanity after killing Itachi was random and confusing. Madara is just hax non-character with no good writing. Itachi retcon is just atrocious. The constant to Uchiha massacre is an undeniably poor effect on the plot. Just poorly-written Uchiha everywhere. Also Sharingan and all its pokemon evolution are so hilariously bad.

It's funny that you say, "Kishimoto can't write romance to save his life" considering that Kishimoto himself has said that on multiple occasions. The light novels that the show adapted for those episodes were written by other writers.

Matthew St. CyrMatthew St. Cyr24 ngày trước
    • @Matthew St. Cyr Oh, that sounds sweet. Kishimoto can't write romance to save his life but since the anime has different writers then it might work. Can you tell me what numbers those episodes are?

      Patricio FernandezPatricio Fernandez24 ngày trước
    • @Patricio Fernandez Oh, yeah; I forgot to mention that I also saw The Last film after finishing the anime... sort-of; the anime ends with a bunch of episodes that were adaptations of canon light novels that took place around the time of The Last, so I watched The Last before watching those particular episodes. If you can't find those light novels, you should probably watch those episodes; they're very neat stories that explain a lot (mainly how different characters ended up together like Ino & Sai and Shikamaru & Temari), and the last set of episodes is about Naruto and Hinata's wedding.

  • TL;DR The themes of Naruto are carried throughout the series, and the payoff at the end is the fulfillment of Naruto's original goal: to end the cruel use of Shinobi as tools, and to bring about peace. Also, Boruto has potential, but it seems to be spinning its wheels at the moment. 1. Shikamaru is the only one who seemed to retain that ninja tactician approach to combat, and is therefore best girl. 2. The plot (skipping filler), while long, is immensely satisfying to follow. I actually appreciated the shift from character-driven to plot/world-driven story. Realizing the world moves without you, that others can have just as much control over your life as you do, is part of growing up, I think. Power creep was definitely an issue by the end, and Kaguya's appearance was entirely underwhelming compared to Obito and Madara. I appreciate the war arc's themes of fatigue, dread, horror, and simple exhaustion of living in constant conflict. They all ultimately had the same goal: to end the fighting, which ties in pretty well with the themes established in that very first encounter with Zabuza and Haku. To an extent, I think Naruto's solution to the endless conflict was focused on changing the people, while Madara's solution was to change the world itself. While pretty common now, the idea of a shonen battle series seeking to end conflict wasn't so common before Naruto. DBZ endlessly praises fighting for its own sake, One Piece (I haven't gotten to the war arc, so I might be wrong here) takes a neutral, sort of fun approach to fighting, and Bleach (TYBW arc notwithstanding) makes almost no statement on conflict, we just want Ichigo to win. Naruto's first serious arc forces us to see just how screwed up a world constantly at war really is. Even Zabuza, a cold bastard for his entire life, wept at the state of the Shinobi world as he died. While "I never go back on my word," was Naruto's spoken nindo, he really only developed it as a counterargument to the cruel nindo the rest of the world seemed to follow.

  • Sasuke and narutos fight in the final valley (naruto part 1) could leave out most of the flash backs. And to not kill off a character that could make it better, was dissapointing. I think Naruto is good. It's not the best, but certanly not the WORST. Imo. It could definetely be better. I think it can be good to watch for the fun and it has it's emotional scenes. I am currently watching Boruto ( to see why ppl hate it so much.). Honestly so far it's not the best, but it's not as bad as everyone make it out to be.

  • The Pain arc is still one of my favorite arcs in any anime. Damn when that Hinata scene happened and Naruto had that rage induced 4 tails transformation. I have recently been rewatching all of shippuden (minus filler) and yea some of this shit is gold and most of the well animated fight scenes are still better choreographed than other modern shows like My Hero (prob my current fav show). And god Naruto’s cast is still so likable, memorable and endearing.

  • What I wonder is what will One Piece's title be when it ends? A series of highs and drugs?

  • The only good fillers are comedic ones. Like the whole filler where they try to see what is behind Kakashi's mask was genius. They should try to do that more often.

    • For freaking sure and I wish more people had that kind of patience when it comes to adaptation. A good adaptation can bring even the most dead of series back to life.

  • Naruto has had such a profound impact on my life that its hard to explain. Ever since I first graspex anime as an art form after watching Darling in the Franxx, I've been searching for something to fuel that need, that longing for something as meaningful. To my absolute surprise, I found it in form of a quirky show about orphan in ninja village and his hijinks as a shinobi. It took me about a year or so to finish Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and the dubbed portions of Boruto, and it really opened my eyes on what a cartoon can be. I feel like the show forced me to grow as a person if I wanted yo feel that connection that I been loving for so long. It just a different kind of experience, y'know? I know their are better shows, I know it has many flaws, I know people hate Boruto, and I know people might think of me poorly because I watch the dub, but I don't really care. Because, at the end of the day I have an sort of unbreakable bond with this series, the kind you never quite forget.
