The original iPhone released in 2007 was hailed as revolutionary in a world where BlackBerry, Palm, and Microsoft Windows Phone reigned king. Google was working on a competitor to these platforms with the Android team they purchased in 2005. After the iPhone unveiling, Google changed course and the T-Mobile HTC Dream was launched in 2008. How did the two compare and which one was better? iPhone vs Android.

  • That’s funny I bought one original iPhone and my ex bought that android phone pretty crazy I love my very regional iPhone I can’t stand android I still have an iPhone today

  • Default apps can be set on iOS devices since iOS 12 however it requires a enterprise MDM (Mobile Device Management) system to do this and cannot be set any other way.

  • I loved this! I still remember that first iPhone. I had just graduated from college that year. I used the iPhone up until the iPhone 4, then I switched over to the Galaxy Nexus. Now I'm using a Pixel 4 XL, but my Galaxy S21 Ultra is on its way to me.

  • Ironically my first smartphone was the samsung galaxy s1 which i got a year after release from my cousin way back in 2011. Now at present i have the galaxy s21ultra prior to this i was using the galaxy s8. Though, I dabbled with iPhone with the iphone 4s while having the galaxy s3. After a few months or probobly just a couple of weeks using the iphone 4s, sold it and kept the s3. Lol

  • I still remember when my dad decided to buy himself a new phone and he brought back 3 phones, one for my mom (a iphone 4), one for himself(a galaxy s1), and one for me(a sony xperia neo), god damn did it feel like a upgrade from my nokia 3220, and my dads s1 felt so futuristic, and i liked my moms iphone 4 which i used for some time when my neos touch died.

  • I had the 1st iphone...not having copy paste was horrible until the jailbreak scene. Of course they legit added it later. Also not being able to send MMs ....ahh I do not look on those days fondly. I'm currently using the s20 ultra, upgrading to the s21ultra at the end of next month. My first Samsung was the s6 edge. After that I went back to iPhone 7plus. After that I've been Samsung only.

  • Honestly, I'd kill for a new Lumia/ Windows phone phone. It did many things neither phone did and still don't do as well. And the interface, which took some getting used to at first, was just better and more considerate in terms of "at a glance" notifications. I don't recall my first Android, but my first smart phone was a Blackberry. It's weird how in the fog of time, people forget that the blackberry was doing everything the iPhone did before it ever came out. Ditto for the original Windows Mobile. Though, they were both flawed. WinMo couldn't get hardware powerful enough and Blackberry couldn't figure out how to make their OS not require a battery pull every night (or six times a day). Wasn't a fan of the iPhone 4s I used, but now a days, I stick with the LG V line of phones. Currently sitting with the V40. Contemplating upgrading to a G Note at some point.

  • I still love the customizability of Android phones, but stability has *always* been an issue for me. I've never had a flagship Galaxy work 100% of the time. iPhones just work, although the lack of features (by design) is infuriating. I now use my old Galaxy S9+ as a personal phone, and a 12 Mini for work, because when I need it to count, the iPhone just works. Always. 100% of the time.

One day I left it accidentally under the sun for barely 5 min and it broke. I have a Samsung phone now. It has fallen and gotten wet countless times and is still alive.

  • My first smartphone was an iphone 3GS. That was after the iphone 4 was already out. I thought I'd like it until I got it and realized it was an absolute ass to do anything with since I had to run everything through itunes. And getting any other ringtone on it was an absolute bitch. I only kept it for a few months before I had to have something else. My mom agreed to take it as her first smartphone since she didn't do nearly as much with it as I did and I would use the upgrade option on her line to get my first android which I loved at the time - the Motorola Atrix.

  • I don’t think that even today’s android can match how customizable WinMo phones were in the pre-iPhone days. You could completely redesign the UI so that you had no clue it was a Windows phone with the right rom from xda developers

  • I would agree with you saying iOS made android better but.... Given how apple literally took designs from android and then patented them and then sued android for using, and then won due to the judge they have is always the same judge and she is basically one of the most bias judges i have ever witnessed. Judge Koh while not always siding with apple on their often times frivolous lawsuits against android, she more often than not goes to apples favor. And then there was the whole thing about how apple wants to kill android. Steve Jobs really, really really hated android. So yeah besides that whole nutshell your rosy interpretation is nice.

  • your comment about the whole OS layout about how right they were. This is just a no. Its not about them being right its about just leaving shit alone that was already built. Its taking the concept if it aint broke don't fix it approach. An approach they been using since at least 1998. Just look at how the new gesture system through off and angered so many apple fanboys. Also this aversion to change is at the heart of apple. Apples current OS for their macs that look has been in play since at least the 2001. Sure it was updated a bit but the overall look is largely the same. Why cause i used a apple imac g3 in 2001. I remember the user interface of osx. Its freakishly similar to what apple is currently. Another point to aversion to change is how often the used the original iphone design, iphone 4 design and iphone x design. Their most current look is a mix of iphone 4 and x. Its laziness at its finest. And yes i am a hater of apple. Hated the god damn system ever since the imac g3. Fuck that system and everything after that system.

  • Don't forget Android gives u access to download apps from external sources and let's you access files and folders and download whatever you want. Apple has never and likely will never give u that ability. That's what I don't get about experienced tech users. Why in the world would you choose iPhone when you are heavily restricted from using the phone to begin with? Makes no sense. I have and will always be an Android user Because I want to use my phone in whatever way I please. I understand iPhones user friendly approach to non experienced tech users but everyone else, why just why?
