Apple fans give PCs a bad rap for being “too loud.” Snazzy Labs strikes back by attempting to make a gaming PC quieter than any Mac before it-it’s not so simple after all.

Steve Jobs famously disliked the idea of putting fans or cooling vents in any of the products released under his tenure in the early days of Apple. While Apple has been known for keeping some of their most powerful machines fairly quiet-even under full load-with the exception of Mac Pro, this frequently results in thermal throttling, undervolting, fan bearing failure, and more. These are compromises that many Apple fans would take despite the relative decrease in performance as PCs are often (and sometimes fairly) viewed as loud or annoying-even at idle. In this video, Snazzy Labs tries to make the best of both worlds: a powerful gaming PC with an NVIDIA GTX 2080 Ti and an Intel i5-10600K inside of a Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL that puts liquid cooling pumps, fan RPMs, and more to shame.
Just changing stock fans to better cheap case fans and playing with the fan curves I went from a plane to a silent-ish pc even on load. Great video! Makes me want to upgrade my fans again 😜
Wouldnt you consider having 2 sticks of 16GB instead of 4 of 8? Im thinking it would generate less heat
1:00 the computer is part of the simulation 😂😂😂
i think if i ever build a custom pc i will just slap 2 to 4 noctua 200mm fans on it and use water cooling for the CPU, and the fans are so slow that they stay pretty silent
The fan is the only thing in a computer that makes noise My hard drive:brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Where do you get these tiles on the wall from please they look fantastic and are they any good for noise dampening ?
wich graphics card does this use or is the artic accelero the graphics card?
why not choose a case with 2x200 fans?
I went through the same problem with the Accelero Extreme 4. Ended up buying double side thermal tape and heat sinks to cool my vrms. My recommendation, get the Accelero Extreme 3 instead.
Nowadays, that title is reserved for macbook air m1
Damn, at 17:53 those Arctic fan stickers that don't line up would drive me crazy. Probably my OCD kicking up a bit.
There are computer cases that act as the heatsink to allow for gaming with no fans at all that do surprisingly well
AMD is the true king in gaming now
I hate those arctic gpu cooler, I used one a while ago for my gtx 680, while the performance is excellent(depending on the card) they didn't change the design at all since back then, ugly af, at least make everything black.
Measure noise with SPL meter
There exists fan less power supplies im pretty sure
Glad I found this channel! Your videos are so good!
Noctua's are available in plain black nowadays...
You made a build that would have been great 2-3 years ago....seriously ?INTEL? IN 2020? and no Intel is not king anymore even in gaming...if you wanted you could have disabled some cores, but no, Intel is not an option in 2020.
You should have let us hear the PC.
Can we get an updated one with the new RTX 3090 and AMD Ryzen 9 Please :)
1:02 that's not the pc its just for the game to be more immersive
MacBook Air Late 2020: am I a joke to u...
That rolex sub looks hot !
*AMD 5000 series joins the chat*
Man that ram install sound was so out of sync!
I watched 20 minutes to see the quietest computer and you didn’t even let us listen to it lol
I know, it's not sexy, and not modern, but I love expansion slots and the look of a monster computer, so I run my rig in a Cooler Master HAF X. I have upgraded a few times, but always build into my HAF X. It provides tons of air flo, and even has plenty of space inside for a liquid cooling solution...plus penetrations for an external solution as well. It's not portable, but it's not meant to be. The only downside is I'm using the stock case fans, so it's not tremendously loud, but not whisper quiet either. Looks like I need to swap out to those whisper quiet fans.
basicly the same build that i made 3-4 years ago. btw that top plate on the gpu do absolutely nothing for cooling your gpu
"I like Macs because theres quiet" me when i turn on my imac: AHHHHHHHHHHHH
Devil's Canyon? Do you mean Titan Ridge?
Noctua! No need to say more.
He called Noctua fans ugly! Get 'im boys!

Somehow I think this was an artic advert. I mean I can not image a fully Water-cooled PC with the same fans on a low fan curve being warmer or quieter than this. I guess I still watched it. I am sure the artic is cheaper than a custom watercooled build..plus you do not have to worry about water leaks.
Very cool! I like the story of Steve Jobs and Apple. (:
I think you are wrong in thinking that getting a bigger capacity power supply will contribute to your cause of getting more cooler and hence more quite power supply. The heat dissipated in a power supply can be assumed as Fixed + variable heat loss. Fixed will not depend on how much power you are consuming but variable will. Now, the problem with your approach is that you are thinking that a power supply would release more "variable heat loss" as it closes it's capacity which is kind of intuitive but wrong. This is because most power supplies are SMPS based which are more efficient if they are working close to 100% load. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me.
I can almost imagine your own tv show. Youre a natural.
Corsair fans don’t move as much air as noctuas because the blades are smaller
That gpu actually looks cool asf
Man anyone can build pc but just this guy doing it with rolex
is this like a libra type of apple fanboy?
You should really look at cooler Master NR200. Itx at its best
3:32 I've said it before and I'll say it again. AMD should go with an LGA socket for Zen 4. AMD's CPUs are only going to get physically larger as they add more pins. Pads and motherboard-side pins are more space efficient. Epyc and the Threadripper CPUs are already LGA sockets, and their Opteron server line was for a long time before Epyc. I've got no idea why Ryzen is still PGA.
Noctua Fans come in black now, my friend. Except for the A12 x25 fans, but the black varients are coming out either later this year or sometime next; its hard to tell with Noctua.
am always team red, since 2013 ,so a thumbs down, for one of my favorite VIworld channels
All RAM is not the same. PCB Version Die Type Rank All of which effect the performance of the RAM. Cheap shot: ECC - registered / unbuffered
Rip vram
Rip GPU
reminds me of how linus just moved the computer to a separate room and ran a long cable to game away from it
Generally water cooling is louder than air cooling so
Fans don't bother me... Who the hell buys Intel right now?
who did the motherboard unboxing ??
I wish i could have that pc😔 when Everytime i ask my mom to buy me some part she always shouting on me😔 all i want is a pc that will not take 10-15 mins to open a Google chrome. I'm literally crying rn. I'm just a simple teenager in the Philippines who wants a pc that good for searching and my Microsoft word office needs product key to open i wish i can have some parts that you're willing to give me😔 i appreciate y'all ❤️
@Post-Left Luddite how I'm only 15
Get a job
So I have gotten alot of artic fans. In a year at most they will all be clicking and making noise. There is too much travel on the shaft allowing the fan to push away from its chassis eventually wearing it down unbalanced
Excellent video Quin ~ my favorite you've ever done in fact. Poised ~ calm and at ease. Seems like you've finally become the man your dog always thought you were....
Bro check out Scythe, pretty good for the price!
Built a pc that was so silent when idle. I keep thinking it was off....
Why did u not go noctua its more silent and better
Late to the comment party but I loved this build because that's what I'm aiming for next year for my gaming workstation. I work pretty much all night and I want to be dead silent... oh and btw from a fellow DaVinci Resolve editor running on Linux to another: there is a rouge frame at 7:47
Why was a 10600k used over an 8700k? With the 8700k not being soldered, it makes de-lidding it a far more reasonable prospect. Also the comment about all RAM being the same is just wrong. You don't even need to go too deep into technical specs to realise this. And as others have mentioned, the choice of RGB over noise/performance goes against the goal of the build.
@Massimo De Grazia "Why would you delid a soldered CPU?" In 99% of cases you wouldn't... and nowhere in my comment did I say you should.
what if I'm into fanny noise?
DIY Perks has done a number of incredibly-silent high-power PC builds, using homemade cases which are also much prettier than these off-the-shelf parts. No RGB to be seen, either.
Your videos tend to be of significantly higher quality when not scripted.
Oh look another video with fake laughs and how trendy and rich I am - its all about me me me me me me me me.....
TALK ABOUT AN INTEL FANBOY, "SORRY AMD BUT YOUR SOCKET ISN'T AS GOOD" EXCUSE ME BUT WHAT THE F
Can we flame him for not using the correct vertical bracket for that case? The XL has its own bracket, the normal 011 dynamic bracket is supposed to screw into the bottom of the case. Also, why create so much work for yourself when you could of just kept the cooler on and added 3 fans at the bottom of the case or just adjust fan speeds
no love for noctua?
Nhd15 is quieter because you can run it at lower fan speed
it'll take u a looong time to hit 1 mil, you've been doing this for so long and still no 1 mil subs pathetic
Ironically, the noise of my pc fans help me sleep, maybe because it's white noise, or maybe because it masks the noise of the damn brat of my upstairs neighbors running all over the place at 11pm like he had just escaped from the basement cage
i run a Fractal define R4 case with integral sound deadening because the P4 era taught me I hate noisy PC's Has a B450 amd 3200G and a 1660S the fan count is 4 incl the PSU and SSD - It's quiet, not silent but quiet
Honestly, if you wanted to make it as quiet as possible, you should have just watercooled everything and the only thing you need to worry about is choosing a pump that is silent at low rpms. Put as many radiators as possible in the case and a big reservoir and you could almost runs this thing without fans. For the radiator fans choose fans with a 0rpm mode and there you go.
Why are you overclocking the 10600K? The extra performance is about 5% max if you game at 1080p, but it consumes way more power, so your fans have to run much faster.
2:58, yeah the 10600k is a whole 8% faster than the 3700X at 1080p when you are not GPU limited...
Yeah, there literally nobody that would recommend Intel over AMD right now
2:40 what do you mean it runs cooler? If you use the same CPU cooler and fans, for the noise level it only matters how much power the CPU consumes, because the cooler&fans have to dissipate that power as heat. Gamers Nexus' power consumption figures show that under load, at stock settings the 3700X uses about 20Watts less than the 10600K and the Ryzen 3000 CPUs are extremely low power at idel, as Der8auer showed.
> cool and quiet build > i5 10600k and not r5 3600 or r7 3700x Goodbye.png
what i like most about macs is how quiet they are......[THERMAL THROTTLING INTENSIFIES]
ah yeah theres a self made computer out there which is quieter than a heart beat on full load :D secret: it blows the air from the bottom to the top. physics are awesome :D to keep noise inside the tower the guy used towels
Umm, there are no fan CPU coolers and If you do a mineral oil PC for no fan and quite pc
I would rather have fan noise then instead thermal problems
3:41 ha ha totally havent done that befere
Rolex to Grand Seiko back to Rolex... Nice flex.
dude, missed you video
Anyone know which acoustic panels he's got on the walls?
Does anyone know what that is 1:08? that thing with the tubes??
so my power supply came with a setting where it would turn the fan off under light enough load, then turn it on when it needed to... and I ended up turning it off, because it was great when it wasn't running, and great even when it was, cause it wasn't spinning very fast (i got a 850W for the same reason you got a 1000W) but the spinning up itself was done by spinning the fan very fast for a couple seconds, which was more annoying than just letting it run very quietly at 10% all day.
That GPU cooler with the vertical mount actually looks really good.
Quietest computer ever???? It’s got fans bro, sounds like a fuller video. Didn’t offer anything new
So... how much did this thing cost?
snazzy, good rolex btw :D
Hi, so is the 10600 better than the 10900 for gaming?
Why would you buy intel nowadays? Ryzen all the way
Not all ram chips are the same, far from it. They can give vastly different performance. Don’t spread information you don’t know enough about.
CL timings and frequency obviously affect performance. I’m just saying memory from different OEMs that rebrand are basically all the same. Performance delta is extremely minor.
Noctua fans on the NH-D15 are both less noisy and more performant than their bequiet counterparts. The only leg you have to stand on here is aesthetics. Of course you are free to choose your components as you set fit, but pretending that the D15 isn't the perfect choice here is just silly.
Watch Optimum Tech's video on 120mm fans. Just because it has 'silent' in the name doesn't make it good. I have those fans and they're ok, but not as quiet as noctua
Watch the "quietest pc" video from DIY Perks. It's amazing and a really good video
I dont think this will be as quiet as my system running 480x60 and 420x64mm radiators. No matter the load, i have my 11 fans set at a fixed 600rpm, and the highest temps my 9700k@5.2ghz will ever see is mid 50s. My 2080 super never goes above 40. The coil whine from the gpu is literally the only thing you'll ever hear
For people wanting to make a quiet computer, you should also consider the sound of the fan, it shouldn't make an annoying whine but a soothing wind sound.
17:41 that is not how you are supposed to use this tool. use no force downwards, and it cuts like butter ;)
