This hackintosh isn't a hacintosh... it's actually a Linux PC running macOS as a virtualized OS. And it's fast. Like, really fast.

This didn’t age well...
Adobe should support chrome os or Linux in general
Bro i like the idea.. but this is way harder to setup than install in an ssd the mac os... you already have the clover efi boot loader...
There is no Linux pc, every pc runs Linux.
@Harin Ramesh By _linux PC_ it means a PC that has linux installed on it.
@Coolfred both windows and Linux is built to work on computer with x86 architecture, so we can install Linux in every computer
What?
i know this is a older video but i Have ben playing with mac os vm on unraid & its pretty easy to Set Up & pass through pretty much any thing ya need from a Gpu, mouse an key bord & a Sound Card & Even A USB Web Cam For Face Time & I Think it is by Far The Easiest Way I Have Ever Found To Run Mac OS in a VM & For The Thought Police Yes I Have Other Apple Tech as well..lol. ! I Have a Bare Metal Mac Pro also !
Sosumi vs simple KVM. Does it make a difference for the performance? Is it significant, insignificant, none? I suppose that KVM wins this contest, but is it much better or comparable?
need igpu passthorugh........ cant find anywhere better......
Sosumi is the cheaters way out. But yes, it does work.
I legit read “This LINUS PC”
pacman: command not found What should I do? pls help I run ubunto 20.something
pacman is a package manager that doesn't come in ubuntu
i love this guy, he delivers just differently
Not really sure how the GPU performance would be anywhere near bare metal as OSX doesn't even support NVIDIA now. Even if you're running High Sierra the cards that are supported are pretty limited.
Thanks my next project i have just done it on sosumi with ubuntu 2010 on an old dell small footprint using an nvidia 610 low profile i was impressed that audio passed through without me altering anything at all so far i have had it playing a 4k stream in Ubnunt no frame drops and a 1920 X 1080 stream in Macos with system info running to see the hardware hit roughly 80 percent all cores now for a bencmark its only a Core i7 ill see what i get ?. :-)
Curious what system config for mobo, cpu, gpu and ram you would say would be best price-performance to run final cut pro at least as well as it would run on a MAC MINI with M1 ― and if & how to pull what you have done here by running it on a duel boot windows-native linux set up as that would allow existing hardware to be used. Am planning a PC upgrade and so am trying to scope how to spec the components for that and if I will be able to get both PC and MAX OS environments with a min equivalent performance of a Mac mini M1 w16GB without buying a mac mini in addition to the pc components I will be getting. Thanks a bunch in advance if you are of the mind to reply on to comment.
who neeeds case on cpu :v ??? if a rat passed or if your cat feel warm on there🤣
9:26 i see what you did there
So great to see"a Mac guy" who also uses Linux. Most Mac people seem totally oblivious of Linux.
Compare this machine to the 2020 M1 MacBook Pro. It would be an interesting comparison.
As always, quality videos right here!
RIP Sosumi... This video is not up to date anymore... Apparently I'm the first one to notice that Sosumi is gone coz there is no single shred of info in the web on where to find it anymore... Just dozens of blog articles and youtube videos about how to use snap to install it when, in fact, it's gone... Hows it goin, Apple ? ^^
4:14 apparently sosumi has been removed from the snap store... Not only is the link in the description broken. If you search the term sosumi on the website it wont find anything. And google or DDG dont show any search results for installing sosumi without snap... Even the github page only shows the run of the mill CLI installation that does not find any package named sosumi... It's been effectively wiped off the face of the w^3 WTF, it seems, I came along a bit too late into the game.
@Snazzy Labs: KVM and QEMU are two diffrent things ... QEMU is a type 2 hypervisor that runs within user space and performs virtual hardware emulation, whereas KVM is a type 1 hypervisor that runs in kernel space, that allows a user space program access to the hardware virtualization features of various processors. Just to make it clear that its not an "Accelerator" or whatever your fantasy has come up with ;) Beside that nice video :)
Would be interested to know what is contributing to the speed differences? Did Apple mis-architecture something in the hardware or is there something else going on here?
Muta loves this
which is the unit we are watching these tests?
Intel® Virtualisierungstechnik (VT-x) Intel® Directed-I/O-Virtualisierungstechnik (VT-d) for pci passthrue

how to turn your ipad pro into a tenis racket 😂😂 good one
i need a glass of water... feeling dizzy
Opencore? Single GPU? make a guide on this config please.
I'm at 1:50... Thinking... This guy might just be my HERO right now... holding my breathe waiting for the catch... Is it coming? Is it?
5:06... lol there it is ...well, for this "sosueme?" product at least -- so the fat lady still isn't out on stage just yet....
So what will happen when Apple drops x86 support?
You can tell sosumi to use more Cores, RAM , and costumize disk space. ;)
"virtualizing macOs on linux thats virtualized on windows"
1:47 worry about updates breaking your hackintosh *ever heard of opencore?*
Yeah! Manjaro!
Wich are all the components on this pc? I have to buy a new pc and I like it ;)
What is the purpose if installing mac in virtual machine??You can do a video how to install usable Mac apps that works on a windows environment??Safari works at first but is an Safari like app for windows not a genuine Safari.
what's with the trump plug?
Me: sees green Me: MANJARO Edit: arch isn’t hard to install it took me 30 ish minutes to get a GUI up
*visible confusion*
Is there any step by step tutorial out there for do what this great man say?
does it supports external graphics card and vega 11 ?? which graphic card is recommended to use ??
Sosumi is that a joke at Apple. Just looked it up it is:)
My mouse is not working during the macOs install in sosumi. Any idea how to fix that?
Can I do this by virtualizing from the ubuntu distro?
Can you show us how to virtualise Windows with kvm as well? Oh, and did you experience mouse cursor lag in the VM? Did you have to remount shared folders from the guest whenever your IP address changed? I had a A LOT of problems with kvm.
has anyone had any problems with Apple services?? I just hackintoshed a Ryzen 3600 with rx580 with open core and haven't had any problem, was that an Intel thing?
Oh my god!!! I hate myself setting Hackintosh without watching this first. I just need to use MacOSX occasionally, but need a good *NIX based OS.
I wish it would still be available... But it has been removed from the snapstore and I cant find a single shred of info using various search engines, including google, for installing without snap. Even the github page only offers the snap package. It's a shame, I was anxious to get this... Apparently Apple got to the FOSS-community somehow...
Manjaro with Cinnamon is my personal favorite flavour of the distro
Well not anymore
He was so surprised. That he became an Italian in the tumbnail.
Hay Snazzy I am having an issue and need help when i try to boot it I get an error AMF: Only 247/256 slide values are usable Valid slides : 9-255
Open Core is great.... works 99.9%, for me big sur beta worked 100% correct , well have to figure outa solution for wifi adapter..... But oc is best , finally mac on my pc after 2 months of different methods tries...
How do I reset it if I broke it
You should do this in Linux on arm and see if it works paybe even on a Android phone
The awake toenail excitingly fasten because flute greely occur absent a lively typhoon. industrious, short pastor
Amazing! Never thought I'd be finish watching this video!
Great vid, thanks. If the virtual disk for macOS is 300g, how big does Manjaro really need to be?
This is slower than a Hackintosh, right :) ?
Big Sur is on the way to taking over. Linux will be negated at this point.
What 3D printer do you have?
Can you make a logic pro/ cpu performance and latency test with an audio inrerface ???
And how about running xcode with it together with having iphone mobile app development?
I installed Manjaro and loved it so much I just use that ATM. I will eventually get to the VMs.
Good Morning Snazzy, can i use the vm image to install on a hackintosh? i have lots of fun following your video and appreciate the details as simple as it is to use by a new linux/mac user! BIGTHANKS. Of course i have to ask for instruction to backup my mac on a flash drive to install on a it on my hackintosh.
That is stupidly impressive.
What I would really love to see you do is a threadripper linux workstation video. I'm a mac guy at heart but I can't afford a new mac that would meet my needs. I solved that issue by building a threadripper system. The problem is I am now running that OS that I love to hate. ( I'm looking at you microsoft). I would love an HEDT linux video.
As much as I love these videos, the new M1 mac mini may negate the need. If the hype is real, I'll drop 8 bills on a new mac and be happy.
Love the disclaimer, LOL good stuff!
What a colossal waste of time.
Seems to work and ryzen as well
Faster than an M1 ? Idiot…
manjaro in da houuuse
will this work on an a laptop with only intel i5 8th gen and intel integrated graphics? I want to try this but I don't think my laptop will be able to handle it.
how about M1 mac mini?
oh shit this is gooooooood
Even then a M1?
Quin do you walk through the components of this build in a video or online? I know you talk about processor in the video, I'm curious about the other components.
Love the disclaimer with the visuals from - most likely - ED ads listing the life-threatening "side" effects of their product.
AMD Virtualization is SVM..... It's Qemu (Kem-You)
I had the simplest and most successful experience recently with "macOS-Simple-KVM". I run it on WSL in Win10 with VirtualBox. after some basic configuration - it works like a charm.
Who cares? not me! bye.🙃🙃🙃
We need a proper videotutorial. The official guides are complete utter garbage. They assume you are expert and omit very important steps. I've been trying to do this for the past 8 hours and all I've got is a virtual machine that won't boot with a network adapter and a completely messed up rendering. Impossible to see anything. It's so broken up. Not even talk about GPU passthrough.
mac os didn't only break a Hackintosh, it's even breaking a real mac.
Hi, any chance this will work with a GeForce RTX 2070 VENTUS? I know there are no drivers, but if will it work virtual without passthrough?
You only just noticed that, any new build is faster then a Mac system, they use hardware then makes it near perfect for what it is there and then
M1 "Hold my beer"
"there's no sound..." The only reason I'd EVEN want Marcos is for logic and finalcut
@Modris Bitenbinders I prefer FL and Ableton. I tried logic, cubase, garageband and MPC beats but they're confusing and unintuitive.
Bitwig is better. Queen of DAWs!
Will someone get him a drink and a jetson nano board please, we need installion tweaked to install big sur arm edition, so we can compare to the M1 performance
Install Mac OS on a Linux VM host with only these 84 simple steps!
This really has to be a kick in the ass now that the M1 dropped
Arch Lol.
I thought Mac OS ran better on Intel CPUs than AMDs. I'm not claiming to know one way or another, but can I get a cooler CPU now?
Where are m1 fanboys now?
all until the M1 came out ... .drops the mic
This is awesome! and I got it to work as far as the video! Question though, how is anyone transferring files between the host and guest? I must be missing something??
Only if I could buy a new PC every time I saw a video of a faster PC .
Great introduction - as always! I've followed your steps and the great documentation on the Passthrough Post. I've allocated 8 GB of ram and 4 cores to the VM but still fells to un-responsive / laggy to being a real alternative to a real mac. Is it simply a question of adding enough ressources or any other tips for performance enhancements? Maybe there is a way to increase the vram for the integrated graphics I'm currently running on? (coffee lake, UHD 630 graphics).
Im curious how itll handle some Blackmagic decklink cards and a color grading console and a render thru resolve. Thats the hit or miss test for the pc
