Together with two of my Favorite VIworldrs @Miscast and @Midwinter Minis I went through 40 years of Warhammer miniatures to find the best figure from each decade. We had lots of fun hanging out, discussing our favorite warhammer 40k, warhammer fantasy and age of sigmar miniatures. Hope you have just as fun watching us!
Spoiler: We talk about miniatures like Rogue Trader Space Orks, Nurgle, Warhammer Giant (gargant) and the original plastic Space Marine to mention a few.

But I have this army of really old early warhammer woodelves that I found on craigslist.i want to give it to at you or at least one of you for free to do a video on heck I'd even pay shipping. They really were painted beautifully and come in a full foam carrying case for all the miniatures including Ariel queen of the elves. Everything seems to come from about the same time as her. And we're all painted at the time with the old 1990's gw paints If you're interested please respond

  • I lived 40 miles from the original Citadel miniatures factory in Newark in the 80’s. You could turn up at the factory and they would let you pick any figures and models from there storage bins and then charge you by the weight of the metal. I found some fantastic figures that were never released to the public. I wish I had kept them.

  • For the '80s: The Gob Lobber. It's technically more than one model, though. It's the first mini I'd ever seen, it tells a great little story, and you got a little goblin all netted up and ready to be flung at the enemy! In the '90s: The Avatar of Khaine. This model was a great update to the original and showed how truly immense he is compared to your average Eldar. The pose is dynamic and it was so fun to paint. For 2000-2009: I'd have to say the Lord of the Rings Balrog. 2010-2019: Roboute Guilliman. The Daemon Primarchs are great, but somehow seeing a Loyalist Primarch was reinvigorating to me as both a painter and a player. 2020: The Triumph of St. Katherine. Like the Gob Lobber it's not really one model, but come on. It's brilliant.

  • Just wanna write a little something down here, super glad i stumbled upon this channel. I miss warhammer so much, from the US so aside from ordering theres not many stores left at least where I live. I remember getting my first box of 40k for a birthday when i was a kid, was tyranid gaunts. Walked by a games workshop in a mall near me and insisted that i collected every bit they had in that store. Suffice to say it didnt happen but it started something crazy, must've built 3 or 4 armies, even got warhammer units just to build and paint, was super young then so the employees at the store said warhammer mightve been too complicated to start with so they pushed me towards 40k. Anyways think my mom bought me the box about a month before my birthday actually was but i found the spot they were hid and no joke I sneaked a look at the box every single day leading up to my birthday lol. Sadly that store closed a year or 2 after that to my dismay, was hard pressed to find another spot that sold em at least to the same extent. I did managed to find another small hobby shop that had a select bit of some of the armies but they overpriced em even more. Then that placed moved and as the years went on they flexed out more and more of the warhammer for other more popular stuff. I still have a bunch buried away, this channel might be the inspiration i need to bust em out and pick it up again. And I'm sry lol, maybe i was a little late to the warhammer party but I always thought the older models looked hideous haha. Anyways just thought to leave a little note, found the channel last night, loving the vids I've spam watched and your painting skill is absolutely insane.

  • The Pink Horror sculpts from the late 80's were made by Kev Adams and he took photos with a instant polaroid camera of the studio staff but told everyone to pull faces when he took the photos. I was one of the people working in the painting studio at the time and it was bizarre seeing the photos used for the sculpts. All the best, Darren Matthews

    • @Alex Vara de Rey lol, the ratio of painting content to general quirky hobby content is pretty similar on Squidmar and MWM. You somehow consume VIworld in a very strange way. His non painting videos just happen to be the most viral so they are the ones that YT recommended to you and you chose to watch. If you took two seconds to click on his channel you’d see many painting videos. If you were a sub you’d get painting videos in your feed. That’s how the system works.

      Arch DeluxeArch Deluxe3 tháng trước
    • @Arch Deluxe Your analogy is a bit back to front. I was specifically hoping to find produce on my casual trips, as that store had been recommended as a good place for produce, but the times that i went in they didn't have any - only lawn chairs, hammers and nail guns. I spoke to the store manager and he told me that the lawn chairs are very nice, but that if i want produce, i'll have to make a specific search. As a casual customer, i'm not impressed with the lawn chairs and have now lost interest in the produce. Midwinter or Ebay Miniature Rescues will obviously suit me better.

Alex Vara de ReyAlex Vara de Rey3 tháng trước
    • @Alex Vara de Rey a man enters a grocery store 5 or 6 times. On each visit he goes directly the the produce section, and only observes the produce section. He leave's the store angrily proclaiming "I've been to this grocery store 5 or 6 times and have yet to see them sell anything other than produce!".

      Arch DeluxeArch Deluxe3 tháng trước
    • @Alex Vara de Rey if that's the videos you click I think that's on you ;) if it's got painting in the title or thumbnail there's probably painting in the video

      Squidmar MiniaturesSquidmar Miniatures3 tháng trước
    • @Squidmar Miniatures A reply from the man himself. Thank You. ''Who says it's just a painting channel? '' That's my point. I haven't seen you do ANY and i've seen half a dozen videos, which i think is a fair crack of the whip. I've seen you do Haul videos, commission other painters to do models, discuss models with other people, etc. For news, opinions, lore, battle reports, etc i'm subbed to Leutin, Winters SEO, Kirioth and others. I don't know if this is an insult or a compliment, but from what i've seen, your channel comes across as the Buzzfeed of Warhammer. Really, no offense meant. If that's your intention, then it's not for me. Each to their own. Thanks for your reply. '

  • The 2000's I'd say the best things that came out that I remember are the plastic Dread kit for space marines, and the plastic Land Raider. Both were a step up in detail and posability compared to anything else in the space marine lineup at the time, and the opening door and paintable interior on the land raider were amazing.

  • first miniatures I bought was a box set- heroes of the known world. I think Gladius was the one I liked most from that. Played the rpg and then eventually played warhammer fantasy battle but Never really liked 40k much to be honest. Got disenchanted with the games due to the constant updating of troop types. You had an army then GW would release something that was twice as powerful and basically make your army useless.

  • Watching this video makes me think about my army of Valhallan Ice Warriors. Im realtivly new to the hobby, comeing up on my 2nd year in and I've already amassed a large collection because of how much I Enjoy it, but in my early days when I bought my first box of Tau my friends were telling me about the Imperial Guard and showing me what they looked like in the Killteam rulebook. I Was interested and started to look into the Imperial Guard when I found a video about the Valhallan Ice Warriors and I was hooked. I Dashed over to google to see if these madmen had any models and I was sad when I found out that they were no longer in print. I could find small groups of them on ebay, but nowhere near enough to make a whole army. So for a while I had been planning out how could I convert myself an army of Ice warriors through kit-bashing Bolt Action and guard kits. But then in Febuary they announced that for a limited time they would put the Valhallans back up on the market and It was like Christmas come early. I snatched up the platoon and I've worked hard to make these models the best in my collection, my first fully painted army, and by far the most striking. The Models in my opinion are just simply my favorite models in all of wargaming, there is just so much character in each of the sculpts that really just set the scene of the Relentless, unending Ice Warriors who will stop at nothing to achieve victory as well as they keep a soft spot in my heart as these old metal models from a faraway time, discontinued, but standing still and holding up rather well to even some newer models.
