  • The droid army did take prisoners, commanders, even clone prisoners, if they felt said prisoners would be useful. The problem is first, the droids KNEW the grand army didn't care about its clones. If they captured 2000 clones... the grand army wouldn't care. There wouldn't be an attempt to repatriate clones. There wasn't even a care for how prisoners of war clones would be treated... on the flip side, any time the separatists tried to negotiate regarding taking prisoners of war, it ended up being a trap. A trick by the jedi. given that, there was no reason for the separatists to even consider taking prisoners unless they were of some use.

    Éliás PéterÉliás Péter24 ngày trước
    • The organic forces that fought for the separatists used to take prisoners since they considered them slaves forced to fight for the Republic, so they tried to be as merciful as possible with them, usually when the defensive forces of a separatist planet captured clones they tried to also give them proper treatment, this is different when those who capture the clones are Siths or megacorporations, since these were almost always those who committed war crimes, also even Dooku himself said: "If we kill every Jedi who surrenders, we simply encourage them to fight to the death. "

  • I have to disagree about the fear thing. It makes perfect sense to program it in to them. Not even considering the possiblity that it wasn't programmed in, but that they may have learned it. But even ignoring that, and assuming its programmed in, it makes sense. Fear, just like pain, can help an orginasim to stay alive. Help them know when to avoid things or not. So it really would be useful in the droids. Only thing is they had to much of it. But programing some fear would make sense.

    kyle gesinkyle gesinTháng trước
    • @Seth VanDelft There wasn't as they had it. And while routing is always an issue with real arimes, it isn't that huge a thing when an army is managed and run properly, unless it goes against odds it shouldn't. So long as they kept fear to or a bit under what most organic beings felt should be fine.

      kyle gesinkyle gesin29 ngày trước

  • Hey Generation Tech got a fun thought project What if Tarkin Targeted Lothal instead of Alderaan. Lothal was in open revolt and threw off imperial control just prior to the battle of Scarif. Sends a better message than blowing up some pacifist space hippies.

    GekigundamGekigundamTháng trước
    • @Marrqi7 wini Seriously, people? No one needs to get back plans of their own from the enemy because they don't have a copy. You want to stop your enemies from learning about your weapon/army because they can exploit this knowledge to find a flow in your defense and exploit it which is exactly what the Rebels did. Think about it this way: you're a general who plans where to place your troops to get the best defence or attack position you can. Then a spy, steals your plans. Do you want to catch/kill him because you don't know where your own troops are or because you don't want the enemy to learn this and use it to their advantage?

Brick One A Lego storyBrick One A Lego story27 ngày trước
    • @Андрей Шурочка Those were the imperials plans, the rebels stole them. If anything they should have had copies. (But villains can't be smart now can they.) Also, according to rogue one and a new hope, the rebels just stole those plans. They would have no time to get a copy.

      Marrqi7 winiMarrqi7 wini29 ngày trước
    • @Marrqi7 wini why Imperials need their own plans? Rebels probably already made digital copies

      Андрей ШурочкаАндрей Шурочка29 ngày trước
    • @Marrqi7 wini True but it also backfired spectacularly and when the deathstar blew up it became a recruitment bonaza for the rebellion. of course Tarkin is too damned arrogant to see this as a possibility. "Evacuate in our moment of triumph? " But if Lothal was the world made an example of and then the events of Yavin happened? opinions might be Well sucks to be Lothal but they were in open revolt and "sided with the rebellion" unlike the you blew up a bunch of pacifists that were a center of art & culture. The destruction of the deathstar would be humiliating either way but if they took out a "legitimate" target before that the fallout might not be as disastrous and the propaganda mill could spin it to make the rebels as the ruthless terrorist organization bent on galactic conquest.

      GekigundamGekigundamTháng trước
    • Unfortunately, no one on or relevant to Lothal had the death star plans. Leia came from Alderaan so her world could be threatened so she would reveal those plans. She didn't so she was punished for it. Which involved destroying Alderaan. Anti imperial activity was simply a good excuse. Plus it sent a message. No matter how powerful, wealthy, beautiful or culturally significant a world is, no world is above imperial law. No one cares what happens to an outer rim world. The whole galaxy stops when a core world suffers. Especially one of the galactic republic's founding worlds.

  • Programming a droid with fear and self preservation is actually a very sound strategy. A droid that can flee and escape can deliver intel and experience in addition to having time to recalculate strategies and tactics. Naturally, this would be most handy in low end droids, like the B-1.

    Brandon TaitanoBrandon TaitanoTháng trước
    • Also it would result in less casualties as the droids would be less likely to walk into open fire, and would help reinforce to the droids that as individuals they are worthless but as a group they are strong. Which we often see battle droids holding hope in a hopeless fight so long as they still have allies, but often break ranks when they’re alone or only a few left

But we should cry for the British in the blitz. No, it’s a war crime either way. Innocent civilians don’t deserve to die because a drafted Luftwaffe pilot was ordered to bomb civilian targets. No civilian should have a fucking bombed dropped on their house. I bet you’re the kinda guy to turn a blind eye to when young German boys forced into the Wehrmacht were gunned down because “they were on the losing side” There’s a fucking difference between a Nazi and a German you uneducated fuck. No one deserved any of that. Not the British people, not the Russians, not the Germans, you get my point? They were regular people. Mothers. Fathers. Brothers. Dads. Sisters. Children with aspirations, Mothers aching for their sons to come home Father wrought with grief knowing their sacrifice in the Great War wouldn’t save their sons now. People who’s dreams hopes and aspirations were snuffed out by a bomb. But it’s okay, because their countries military did bad things they deserved it

We didn’t bomb cities that had no value like the nazis did. We bombed cities that had ammunition factories and such. Now there were civilian casualties because the bombing technology wasn’t that precise. That’s not a war crime, that’s an accident. The Nazis going from bombing airfields and factories to blowing up London just to try and demoralize Britain was a war crime. And Germany really isn’t that ugly. I’ve lived there. • Answer: Droids aren't really programed to surrender, and clones are basically unbreakable unless you do something really bad. Also you can't exactly interrogate a droid

    • @Calvin Matthews Droids in Star Wars are able to become fully sapient if given time to grow. Which due to lack of maintenance and being over programmed many B1’s did trust that.
