However now when im older and can look at things more objectively i can say that there are some major flaws in the prequels that is difficult to overlook. The Prequels had great ideas and concept however it was poorly executed in the movies and things should have been explained better.

  • I saw Episode one in the Cinema with my ultra religious uncle when I was 12. As we left the film he told me that Anakin was just like Jesus and was so happy we had watched a film that was obviously based on the bible.... I didn't have the heart to tell him that Anakin turns evil and blows up planets! Haha Great video. Really well done and intelligently put together. I love the prequels. No they're not as good as the originals in many ways buy they tell a story we all wanted to know and, as you've shown, in a realistic and believable way. You can see how Anakin turned to the dark side and how Darth Vader was born. I think they're great and will continue to watch them.

  • Great review! Only one correction, in the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were told not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God had told them that they could eat of any other tree in the Garden of Eden, but not that one. God warned them that if they ate of that tree, they would surely die. Satan/Lucifer disguised as a serpent tempted Eve. He told her that she would not die if she ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, but her eyes would be opened. Eve was never tempted by the power of God, and God was not afraid of His own powers. (And, yes, arguably knowledge = power)

  • The first two movies were... eh... but what makes the prequels so amazing to me is the setting. Compared to rebel insurgents committing gorilla style attacks on a much larger force that is overwhelmingly powerful, seeing this Universe through different eyes is very refreshing. I just love the thought of the republic and Jedi Order in general, which is why the Age of Republic and Old Republic are my favorite eras. But I digress. The conflict in the era, the characters and villains, not to mention stories, are all so good. A war between the republic and separatists gives me more joy than rebels and imperials. Why? I can’t say for certain, but my prevailing theory is that it’s more realistic. Now to be fair, many times through history we have seen smaller factions win against large armies. But here it doesn’t make much sense. The only reason these small forces beat bigger armies is because of A.) They were more trained and had the same type of weaponry, meaning they had an advantage or B.) they had knowledge of the area and used that against the uneducated foes. None of that applies to this conflict. Now if this conflict happened on one planet, then it would make sense. But an entire galaxy? It’s a bit unrealistic. But I will admit. The original trilogy did it pretty well and grounded it in very great ways. Can’t say the same with the sequels. But the prequels? I love the conflict between Republic and separatists, the droids and clones with realistic numbers and foes.

  • Do you know that the Star Wars movies (except for Last Jedi) are in reverse order from when the characters appear to how they behave? Also, the locations and consequences reverse order per episode. I realized this when Anakin arrived at 32 minutes of an indoor location in Episode 1 and I said to myself "Didn't Luke arrive at 16 minutes at an outdoor location in Episode 4?" 16X2= 32. Then I realized all the characters and scenarios were in reverse order which is why Jabba the Hut was in the directors cut of New Hope so he can arrive in Episode 1 and the creatures in the bleachers of the pod race are mostly the ones in the bars Obi-Wan and Luke go to in Episode 4. Darth Maul's death reverses Obi-Wan since he was killed by Darth Vader. I watched Episode 4 and realized I was right all along and the opening scene in Episode 1 reverses Episode 4. This is why Obi-Wan appears early in Episode 1 because he was late in 4. Vice versa with C-3PO. Han Solo has the first line of dialogue in Episode V because he was so late in the other two. Notice we hear his voice before seeing his face in V because the opposite happened in the other two. The inside of Darth Vader's spaceship doesn't open Episode V so the other two episodes bookend the trilogy. This is also why V ends inside a spaceship with the characters backs at the audience because the other two end in joy on a planet. The opening of Episode 4 starts with Storm Troopers blasting characters with guns leading to an explosion of black smoke in which the smoke contrasts the white interior of the spaceship and Darth Vader emerges from the smoke. C-3PO appears in the scene. Leia gives a message for help to Obi-Wan. Later, C-3PO and R2-D2 leave the spaceship. Episode 1 opens with four characters approaching the spaceship (including Obi-Wan) where a female version of C-3PO greets them. An explosion occurs where white smoke from another room emerges contrasting the dark interiors of the spaceship. The Jedi's emerge from the smoke and do battle with robots. Queen Amidala gives a message for help. Yoda is a reverse of Obi-Wan since he's also a mentor to Luke, but Yoda's short, non-human and talks backwards. Obi-Wan is tall, human and talks forwards. Notice that the ghost of Obi-Wan appears just after Yoda dies in Episode 6. Obi-Wan has a final lightsaber duel in Episode 4, but not 5 and 6 and Yoda has final lightsaber duels in 2 and 3, but not 1. The two lightsaber duels in Episode 3 towards the end symbolize one episode ends and another begins. Also, they are stalemates for being the middle of the series. The lightsaber duels in 2 and 5 are stalemates for being the middle of each trilogy. There are other layers: Luke is first seen at an outdoor location wearing white clothes in Episode 4, then leaving a cave and entering daylight wearing grey in Episode 5, then inside a cave wearing black in Episode 6. Episode 1 has the Gungan culture where the creatures are hairless tall, thin and speak English. The Wookies in Episode 3 are tall, muscular, hairy and don't speak English. The Ewoks in Episode VI are short, fat, furry and don't speak English either. This symbolizes a beginning, middle and end structure of the creatures in relevance to the 1st, 3rd and 6th Episodes in the series. Leia and Vader have the ability to sense things. They were also discovered by R2-D2 in different ways. R2-D2 shows Luke a hologram of Princess Leia which sends him from Tatooine to free Princess Leia on a spaceship, but brings a spaceship to Tatooine where Anakin appears when he saves the crew. Also, Leia is trying to escape her father Darth Vader without knowing they're related while Anakin is taken away from his mom. Anakin is a successful inventor who created C-3PO which mirrors what he will become: a talking robot. Yet, Luke is first seen trying to fix a robot that is still broken. His aunt and uncle did say after lunch, "He has a lot of his father in him." Anakin's father is mentioned after lunch, too. Anakin losing a dream to free the slaves after being separated from his mom reverses when Luke gained a dream of being a Jedi after his aunt and uncle died. Luke starts out unsure of the direction in his life, but gets better and more focused later on. Anakin has hopes, dreams and focus at first, but loses his way later on. Anakin accidentally blowing up the space console ending the war is a reverse of how Luke destroys the Death Star in Episode IV. Luke was trained and in control of his actions, but Anakin isn't. I discovered all these character reversals on my own and there's many more.

    • @Kosma Warrior how can a person copy their own work anyway they are very different The first one, TPM the jedi aren't on a rescue mission they're there to negotiate blockades and shit (lol), the ewoks and gungans are also very different 1. They can speak which 'humanises' them a bit more 2. There's a clear boss who they have to persuade which is a lot harder, like the ewoks just join the rebels as soon as 3p0 floats, i doubt the gungans would do that 3. How is leia anywhere near to being fucking palpatine, palpatine manipulated the galaxy and being captured is part of his plan, imma stop arguing as changing your mind is hopeless although do know i don't love TPM or AOTC i really like ROTS but the other two are ok like TFA level for me, i'm able to accept them as canon sort of i'm only defending them as much as i am is because they're still incredibly underrated, it amazes me i think it's mainly nostalgia for people after watching the old one and not wanting the series to change

      General GrievousGeneral Grievous16 ngày trước
    • @General Grievous at the beginning of episodes 6 and 1 jedi/droids start the by movie going on a rescue mission, ewoks/gungans befriend with rebels/ naboo people, 4 and 3: rescue of Palpatine/Leia, Lucas said that young Anakin was duplicated Luke, at the end of episodes 4 and 1- big celebrations and few other things

      Kosma WarriorKosma Warrior17 ngày trước
    • @Kosma Warrior HOW IS THE PT REMOTELY LIKE THE OT there isn't any version of a jedi order or palpatine corrupting the government sure he tries to corrupt luke but 1. That failed 2. Anakin was sick of the jedi temple, he was also influenced by padmé, name an element of the plot that is the same except wavy laser swords and the force and obi wan sort of being a father figure these are just features not the plot

      General GrievousGeneral Grievous17 ngày trước

  • Let's be honest, the phantom menace doesn't provide any information that is relevant to the rest of the episodes. With that being said, you can skip the naboo scenes in attack of the clones and nothing changes. Now our trilogy is movie and 3/4 of a movie. I was born in the early 2000's and I grew up with the prequels as much as the next person, but we should look at the major flaws and see how they can be fixed for future star wars films. There is no point in saying the prequels is a good trilogy. You can enjoy nostalgia and action, but there is no doubt that the prequels falter when compared to episode 4 and 5. While the sequels are trash in their own right, they don't automatically make the prequels great movies. Now with all of this information would it surprise you that my favorite movie is probably ROTS. This means video is misleading however, since he tries to divert your attention from the main problems and focus on what very little good there is in the prequels. All in all I rate this video a 5.5/10.

  • I was a teenager when Phantom Menace came out and turned 21 when Revenge Of The Sith came out. I loved them, I was already a big SW fan but I absolutely loved them. On the internet ppl were either making fun of prequels, either loved them. Unfortunately they all got so much crap, George, Jake, Hayden, Ahmed, even Natalie who was already famous then. I feel like it hurt George so much he even stopped working on any big projects for SW besides Clone Wars and eventually sold it to Disney. I remember as soon as the promo for Revenge Of The Sith ended, in 2006 and after bagillion of interviews with George talking about how SW is the story of Anakin and his tragic life, ppl started looking at the movies from a different angle. Yes, they are not perfect and corny sometimes. But in overall story line, Hayden did perfect job as a conflicted teenager who is supposed to be a perfect Jedi and savior to us all. And also, ppl often forget. George Lucas made Star Wars movies as an independent movies. Without any side input nor any look at what's popular or what works or what doesn't. He just did it because it was his own vision of them. And seeing how ppl finally re-watch prequels as part of the whole story after the experimental sequels, and accept E I-III and give praise to all of them, makes me happy.

  • Honestly, at first i didn't like Phantom Menace since i was really thrilled to see the movie and ended up being disappointed. One of the things that i really loved in the movie was the fight between Maul and Qui Gon and Obi Wan. Other than that, i thought it was boring. Attack of The Clones was a huge upgrade. It was more entertaining and was less boring. While Phantom Menace was overall a mediocre movie in my opinion, Attack of the clones was okay. The only things i disliked about the movie were Padme and Anakin's dialogue since it really freaked the hell out of me. Not to mention, Anakin sounded like a freak with him saying he remembered Padme in his dreams or something like that. Revenge of the sith was probably the best prequel movie from my point of view. Ignoring the cringy dialogue, it was really good compared to the other 2 movies. Attack of the clones was mediocre , Phantom Menace was just boring whereas i enjoyed Revenge Of The Sith. I remember regretting not watching it on the cinema because i thought it would be bad. Hayden's performance impressed me the most. Looking back at it now, i feel like Padme was just a plot device or something like that. The movie had flaws but other than that, it was entertaining compared to the other two prequel movies. The Clone Wars was what made me love the prequels. Anakin had an amazing personality, Obi Wan was funny and sassy as always and Ahsoka was just the definition of a well written character that happened to be a female. Padme also became a lot more than just plot device. Her speech made me realize how much of a good character she really was. If they added this in ROTS then my point of view of Padme would have changed. The Clone Wars gave me good memories and it also made me realize that the prequel movies are not that bad. It had great story but was executed poorly. Anakin also became a lot more likable in The Clone Wars and his relationship with Padme became more saner and not really creepy for me. Clone Wars fixed a lot of things for me and made me like characters that i used to not like/change my point of view on them. Overall, i think of the prequels as better than the sequels ever since the clone wars released. If you compare Ahsoka and Rey, Ahsoka definitely wins with great character development and we also see her grow and make mistakes and not get everything handed to her so easily. I wouldn't say that i loved the prequel trilogy from the start but tcw and analyzing its story made me appreciate the prequels.

  • I thought the Prequels were great films. So many of the arguments saying otherwise were weak or silly (e.g., that midichlorians "ruined the Force", or that the romance between Padme and Anakin was too awkward, which was part of the point). Most people I know loved them to bits. It seems to me it was more a matter of the detractors being loud than there being a real consensus that the films were substandard. I know hardly anyone who disliked them; not even among people who hated Jar Jar. The point at 10:01 is a nuance half of the anti-Prequel whiners seem to have completely missed or misunderstood.

  • You’re right. They weren’t that bad. I liked them. I do agree though with the criticisms of some of the dialogue. Very cringe-inducing. But hey, I agree, people were too hard on the prequels.

  • I love the prequels and agree with everything you said. The one thing I dont like is the god-awful cgi. Still love them tho
